Fun but short map. Likely even more fun if you've watched the Evil Dead movies.

100% Completed.

Special Collectible Obtained: 3 papers (the 4th one turned into blank paper after taken back to office.)

Also, the tentacle in the forest and the mirror texture are both missing. Not sure why, but I do remember when using Editor to open the map, it mentioned "Unable to find textures" or something.

Hopefully the furniture wasn't laughing along with you.

Love this map! It was so much fun. You did an amazing job making it look like its from the Evil Dead series. I laughed when I saw the car and the head in the shed. Great work!! Thank you!

coolgirlkip i honestly think its both what you said and the fact that horror games tend to be sub-par (at least in my experience) because so many of them are just... baby devs. they're often the first games a person makes and honestly like building blocks because horror doesn't necessarily NEED story to function. the point of a horror game is to make you scared or at least uneasy, not necessarily to tell a story or have a plot, so you can get by with nothing but gameplay mechanics, which makes it the perfect type of game to learn how to actually make a game with. which i think is wonderful and fascinating, but also disappointing when i go looking for a good scare and end up with essentially the spooky video game equivalent of a 5 year old's crayon drawing they made in the art time in kindergarten lol

geez why this kind of workshopped horror maps for harmless simulator games must be scarier than actual horror games ;-; ? Well...todays horrors are too detailed so they're not so spooky :P

First thank you very much, aways makes me happy to know you're enjoying the maps. I must admit once I'd finished the bridge I sat back and enjoyed it a bit.
Secondly 1)I didn't know about, I know exactly what the problem is, at one point when I was making this everything flew upto the basement ceiling. My last update moved the cellar door a small fraction and I've obviously forgot to align the terrain to mach, thus causing the bug.
2) I may look at some sort of disposal method out in the woods, I agree there is a lot of footfall back and forth.

Loved this map! Evil Dead is one of my favorite horror movies and I think this map is amazing!
But like all great maps, there were just a couple of things I think could be improved
1. There is a glitch when carrying a bucket down the stairs. The bucket becomes attached to the floor of the first floor as you walk downstairs. This has only happened a few times but was still quite frustrating as i had to keep going back and forth.
2. I think this is just me, but could you add a shredder into the woods? I find it quite difficult to keep going back and forth out of the forest to put garbage etc into it and found be helpful if there was one in the forest.
Other than that, I think this is one of the best VCD Maps out there! I loved how you added the bridge into the map and the pages of the Necronomicon in the cellar and how you added Linda's head into the shed too! :)

just finished the map. constructive criticism: the bizaare amount of trash in the forest is weird. the shed door could be slightly bigger. bug: there is no toilet flushing sound effect. otherwise, had a good time. thanks for make.

The house is actually taken directly from the evil dead 2, the only part I missed out is the wall behind the bathroom, very thin area that was just full of pipes, much to thin to be dragging a bin around in it.
Strangely enough a LP'er has just started this map on his channel, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWCMsjP_C0a3Kjk6qpOcoiA
and yeah it seems a tad darker than planned, it all depends on peapoles brightness settings I guess, I have mine reasonably high. Plus I placed all the trash so I know where to look. Like I said i'll look into it, brightening the map, as you mentioned below, would most likely fix the problem.

I'm just happy you responded to my feedback. Also I know I already said too much but you may need to do something about all the trash in the forest it is absolute murder to try to find everything in that Darkness. Also and I hate to bring this up but the house is probably a lot bigger than you give it credit for my friend but by all means take your time.
cannonf0dder  [author] 26 Jul, 2017 @ 7:47am
Cheers for the feedback. I'm rather busy with my new map atm, but I'll certainly take the criticism into account, and once I get my asdl line fixed, i'll try and upload an update, taking what you said and others into account.

I'd be a damn lie I said you didn't do a good job.
I seriously enjoyed your map however there are a few problems that need to be addressed a bit my friend. The first one is I have to be frank in the movies the house was a heck of a lot brighter. I had to put a Lantern in every room just so I could see what I was doing.
Then I do like what you did to the shed I actually kept the chainsaw but the door was so small when it came to getting those crates out it made it an absolute pain.
Next to me once you increase the size of the Cellar Door and stairs because it's easy to get things down there it's hard has sin to get them out. Sand in a carpet my friend.

Then there was the huge amounts of trash that was in the forest that was unseeable.

I'll have to say is I'm going to recommend this to a friend but there are certain things you may need to change about the layout.

Cool map, very faithful to the movies

the freddy kruger claw in the shed was a nice touch.
cannonf0dder  [author] 8 Feb, 2017 @ 5:30pm
Yeah getting a good scale on the stairs leading into the basement was tough.
I found just throwing bins down was ok, and walking backwards with buckets worked too.
wolfdrums 7 Feb, 2017 @ 8:29pm
Ok so thumbs up for the map! I think it was nice touch for a map totally independent for Evil Dead, had a few spooks here and there as well.

Only cons I would say is:
-Evirorment could have been a little improved open, felt a little "open" for a cabin in the forest. --- -Basement had this bug where you had to jump to actually get down the stairs, so there was no point in bringing bins or buckets down in there.
-The walking/ground sound for the outside could have actually been changed...sounded like walking on a metal floor then actually dirt and grass

Other then that, nice little omage to ED!

I guess maybe not using foggy effect or less of that will be better.
in this map, it's hard to see things clearly with this fog.
cannonf0dder  [author] 5 Feb, 2017 @ 1:23am
Yeah I sometimes struggle with lighting.
Can be hard to get a good balance of playable light vs atmospheric light.
PharmaGamer 4 Feb, 2017 @ 7:03pm
I love this map !!!
it's just a little bit dark, but it's not like abandoned asylum that dark, for me it's perferct enough XD

They did HoH based off the slasher flicks, but they never did really capture the essence of Evil Dead. Gonna give this a download ans come back later.
