Don't know what changed, but this mod is currently not functional, appears in the mod list, but does not have an entry in the mod config manager.
Xoatl 20 Apr @ 7:54pm
I don't think the options are applying to skirmishers, templars, and reapers. Im unsure how to add them in the configs
bobby4ize 23 Jan @ 2:51pm
I am unable to get this in the mod config menu in WOTC.
Lesbian Time 20 Jan @ 11:18pm
I am unable to get this mod to show up in the mod config menu. It is appearing in the mod launcher, just not in the mod config menu. What can I do? It doesn't appear to actually be working.

This mod appears to be in conflict with another essential mod, No Invisible Heads On Randoms . Is there a way to update your mod compatibility (even after all these years)?
Einherjar / Alekhine 14 Dec, 2023 @ 1:30pm
how do I open the menu shown on screenshot 1?
Zoinho1 4 Feb, 2022 @ 11:20am
Could make a option to match soldier weapons with they armors (and camos too) colors?
Epigamesh 24 Dec, 2021 @ 7:29am
@BlueRaja No problem.
I just finished (and published) the plugin for the hero soldiers (now I only have sparks to do, but it should be a lot easier)
BlueRaja  [author] 22 Dec, 2021 @ 5:21pm
@Epigamesh: Yikes, sorry. I thought this was the comments section of a completely different mod (Automatically Color Units). My bad.
Epigamesh 22 Dec, 2021 @ 4:00pm
@BlueRaja Ok, I will keep it separate, then.
I could have missed something, but, up until now, I've never seen reapers/skirmishers/templars been affected by your mod. The color option, when enabled, worked very well for standard classes, but heroes (and spark) seemed to always choose their color within a predetermined vanilla list (and no armor pattern was ever selected).
So I tried to have them impacted as well by modifying their respective charactergenerator classes, and, from my current version, I can indeed see the difference in color choice and patterns.
BlueRaja  [author] 22 Dec, 2021 @ 11:08am
@Epigamesh: Oh if you're editing those files it may be best to release a separate mod, since that could break compatibility with other mods. I thought it would just be a config edit (and actually, looking back at the config, it looks like I already support changing colors for Skirmishers/Templars/Reaper. What more are you adding?)
Epigamesh 22 Dec, 2021 @ 10:10am
@BlueRaja Thanks ; I will continue my modifications and tell you when I'm finished. I'm indeed just adding a few classes (just modifying the CharacterGenerator_Reaper for now, then the same for skirmishers, templars and spark, the same way you did for the generic soldier)
A small question, though, I'm only thinking about now : since I'm replacing classes specific to WOTC or the spark DLC, could it render your mod unusable for non-WOTC versions (or without the Spark DLC) if they were assembled into it ?
BlueRaja  [author] 22 Dec, 2021 @ 5:20am
@Epigamesh: Yes, the sourcecode is all released under MIT so feel free to do anything you'd like with it (except claim credit for the original code). If your edit is just a few small class additions, you could submit a PR on github and I'd be happy to include them in this mod.
Epigamesh 22 Dec, 2021 @ 1:42am
I'm a fan of this mod for quite a time : I like the soldiers not looking all the same from the start.
Since I'm currently discovering the XCOM modding tool, would you mind if I released plugins for it to concern heroes soldiers and spark as well (or would you want to integrate into yours) ? For now, I am at least obtaining encouraging test results for reapers, with only just a few adaptations of your code for this specific class. I would mark your mod as a dependency (I'm reusing the same mod config option in any event) and of course give credit.
Lux Manifestus 23 Sep, 2021 @ 11:32am
Would it be possible to add an option that gives all rookies and squaddies a uniform look but then activates the randomized customizations and nickname when the soldier achieves a certain rank (like sargent)- shows their personality when they earn their rank and credibility? It could be fun.

@Dragon32
Thanks for the recommendation - using that Alternate Mod Launcher now makes it work. Thanks.

Working for me in my current campaign.

Some great Mod Troubleshooting advice
That recommends the excellent Alternate Mod Launcher [github.com] Everyone who uses mods should be using it

Is this mod still working? Not coming up for me, even with the Mod Config Menu

Is it possible to make this compatible with "No Invisible Heads On Randoms" mod?

@Sgt.Tranpulin: Only the things listed in the options are randomized
Sgt. Tranpulin 12 Apr, 2020 @ 8:50am
Thank you so much for making this. Question: If i use the Resistance Firearms mod will the weapons also be random when a rookie is generated?
Oblivious Naga 31 May, 2018 @ 6:47am
Does this work on heroes?
Mobius 10 Mar, 2018 @ 7:12pm
I want to make the Jemhadar :(
ShadowHeart 9 Mar, 2018 @ 3:48pm
So I'm getting an issue where almost everyone has pink hair, even though i have turned off the "hair color" option in the MCM. I've also done the same with "Armor (main) color" and I'm still getting many fantastical colors. Essentially it doesn't appear any changes I make in the MCM actually matter.
Gliese581 12 Sep, 2017 @ 8:12am
Is it possible to make this compatible with No Invisible Heads https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=896537816 ?

It would be neat especially for engineers and scientists who are stuck with these ghoulish appearances.
Weebos 29 Aug, 2017 @ 7:14am
I've been playing WOTC with this and it appears to be working fine.
Dragon32 3 Aug, 2017 @ 12:30am
@yapp118:
That's a classic sign of a mod conflict. Grab the Community Launcher and have a read of these:

Mod not working? Mods still have their effects after you disable them?
yappy118 3 Aug, 2017 @ 12:02am
Regretfully, I positively identified this mod as causing abnormal lag in the game (hologlobe glitch?). I think that by creating, in the game's logic, a new rookie class it creates a conflict with the base game.
macelharen 30 Jul, 2017 @ 11:04am
hooray!!! i can now unsub from "last man on earth" lol
thinkbomb 23 Jul, 2017 @ 6:28pm
... let me clarify. i mean just putting a check boxes "do not pull from the following mod folders". OR ... is there a way to add those extra parameters myself.
thinkbomb 23 Jul, 2017 @ 6:23pm
QUESTION - would i have to ask you or the other person to request compatability with Allies Unknown?
Bullett00th 30 Jun, 2017 @ 10:17am
Love it, but it conflicts with a mod that supports a bunch of other mods(

Causes the infamous hologlobe 10 fps glitch.

Is there a way to solve it perhaps?
teh1archon 8 Jun, 2017 @ 3:52am
@k0mbine there is. You need Mod Config. But if you have too many mods it can slip sometimes and make some very exotic purple-skinned butt-ugly soldier with robotic legs, invisible arms (but not invisible ugly face but it can make invisible heads) and clipping accessories. The mod doesn't know not to mix-and-match from different set but no mod does this except for full model replacement.

But I love this mod. Saves tons of time to make sure that your non-CP soldiers look varied and interesting with little imput to fix'em to your taste.
k0mbine 8 Jun, 2017 @ 12:48am
These screenshots make me think if I download it all my rookies will look like clowns, is there an option to tone down the randomness?
teh1archon 1 May, 2017 @ 11:09am
This mod conflicts with "Safer Cosmetics Transitions". Obviously on XGCharacterGenerator. How do I resolve this? There's another mod with that conflict that was resolved by commenting one of the lines (forgot which mod and what line) so it is possible. What could it be?
ObelixDk 28 Apr, 2017 @ 10:35pm
is there any way for you to include the no more invisible heads function into this mod as they conflict with eachother
Noodle 24 Apr, 2017 @ 6:44pm
What is the name of the helmet you're using in the thumbnail? Is it from a mod? Thanks!
♥♥♥♥ 14 Apr, 2017 @ 12:09am
THANK YOU
Rune 22 Mar, 2017 @ 3:16pm
Is there a way to make it less random what they spawn with? I want all of my soldiers to spawn with a range of different armor types (from a mod), the same primary and secondary armor color, and a range of headgear but the rest random. (Making an advent-looking set of soldiers! Will make some with character pool for now)
crylive 18 Mar, 2017 @ 4:35pm
thanks :)
Neon 1 Mar, 2017 @ 7:52am
@BlueRaja Can you add an option into your mod for disabling some rookies attitudes?
tkh1600 28 Feb, 2017 @ 12:29pm

@ADVENT Avenger: Have you tried my Automatically Color Units mod ?
Juravis 21 Feb, 2017 @ 1:10pm
@BlueRaja I would paypal you good money if you made a mod that would "color class" units upon rankup and for rookies. Much like the Long War 1 options where you could select per class the color and headgear.
DrakkonWarrior 12 Feb, 2017 @ 9:28am
@A Very Kupo Guy
Actually, as far as I can see, the author says nothing about armors:
Does it work with (mod that adds new colors/camo/tattoo/etc)? Yes!

There is nothing in there about armors. Armor inclusion from mods is part of the base game MCM, as functional or not as it is. All his mentions are things the base game will NOT put on rookies, which is not a problem it has with armor, as we know
