@oeagent01 Aww, thanks, man! That makes me feel all warm inside. :)

So glad you enjoy the mod, and thanks for taking the time to write a nice note! <3

I decided to get back into Skyrim recently and I remember being so fond of this wonderful home mod for the game! Thanks for taking the time to put it together! I tried Special Edition and even though it was excellent I had to come back to the original for the sheer number of mods. Maybe I'll go back to Special Edition later.

Ahh ok, its all good.
aetherswift  [author] 14 Jun, 2015 @ 4:26pm
@Oswin Unfortunately the developers altered the landscape for Hearthfire. If you have the mod enabled, even if you don't build on the Falkreath location, the land will look strange (but Darkwood Retreat will still technically work, just look ugly).

But if you disable the Hearthfire mod, the landscape will revert to what it is in the original game, and everything will look as it's supposed to. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Oswin 30 May, 2015 @ 12:21pm
Wait this is on the land you can buy and build on? if I didn't buy the land would it then work with no issue?
Corbot 16 Jul, 2014 @ 9:43am
But now all the falkreath guards are after me D:< CURSE U GUARD OF FALKREATH D:
aetherswift  [author] 15 Jul, 2014 @ 2:59pm
Well, that's definitely more fun. ^.^
Corbot 13 Jul, 2014 @ 7:20am

aetherswift  [author] 12 Jul, 2014 @ 3:33pm
Nothing works like swift arrow in the knee.
Corbot 12 Jul, 2014 @ 10:37am
I ended up just murdering the guard. El problemo solved
aetherswift  [author] 10 Jul, 2014 @ 8:53pm
Whaaaaaat? That's a new one... guess the Jarl of Falkreath got a little greedy... sorry! If you like I'll find the code to reset the bounty with Falkreath for ya.
Corbot 7 Jul, 2014 @ 10:43am
No, A guard showed up and said I tresspassed on illegal property. I'm like: What the hell?
aetherswift  [author] 6 Jul, 2014 @ 1:45pm
Did you attack the vendor in the house? That might have done it... lol
Corbot 6 Jul, 2014 @ 12:56pm
Sadly, the house glitched and I get a 500 coin bounty in falkreath. Glitch ....
aetherswift  [author] 6 Jul, 2014 @ 12:26pm
@Goat Ropper Glad you like it! Yep, your spouse can live inside the house with the "Spouses Can Live Everywhere" mod, which you can grab at the Skyrim Nexus: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11370
Corbot 6 Jul, 2014 @ 9:20am
Luckily, I didn't get hearthfire. Btw, LOVE THE MOD! but can spouses go into it?
aetherswift  [author] 17 Jun, 2014 @ 11:24pm
@Sir_Thomas Bah, that sucks! Sorry for the inconvenience. Hope it sorts itself out for you!
Sir_Thomas 11 Jun, 2014 @ 5:34pm
I did try unsubscribing. Maybe it is because I bought the property first, then subscribed. I'm not sure. If I hadn't bought the property at all, I'm sure the mod would have worked. My character is too far along for me to start over. I will continue trying to go there in a month of game time; maybe it will sort itself out. As it is, I can't go anywhere near without the game crashing.
aetherswift  [author] 11 Jun, 2014 @ 4:09pm
@Sir_Thomas Have you tried unsubscribing from Darkwood then reloading your game? Sorry for the inconvenience; I don't experience crashes from the conflict, just some overlapped meshes. :(
Sir_Thomas 10 Jun, 2014 @ 7:25am
Unfortunately, I didn't realize there was a conflict with Hearthfire when I subscribed to Darkwood. I already bought the land to build on, Now I cannot go anywhere near the property without the game crashing. Looks like I would have to start a new game to resolve this problem. I really don't want to do that. Does anyone have a suggestion that might fix this without a restart?
aetherswift  [author] 27 Feb, 2014 @ 5:16am
@zzackmann Yeah the secret cellar is my favorite thing about this mod, since I always play a sneaky type... ^.^

Since I got screwed over with Hearthfire, I'm going to keep this mod vanilla-friendly. Great ideas, though; thanks for your input! :)
Carl!!!! 24 Feb, 2014 @ 7:40am
Fixed my gleamblossom addiction. Console ftw.
Carl!!!! 24 Feb, 2014 @ 7:26am
Hehe. Just now found the cellar. Have been using the mod for a few days. This house is now perfect. Because I actually found a mod that turns guards into sweet rolls whenever they ask if someone stole my sweet roll. And another that kills them with lightning from the heavens if they mention their knee inuries... XD
Carl!!!! 23 Feb, 2014 @ 6:25pm
Gleamblossom*
Carl!!!! 23 Feb, 2014 @ 6:24pm
Idk if you'd ever want to add more to it, but friendly spriggans in the spring would be cool. Not sure if you could, but adding some gloam blossom plants would be nice as well, although that'd require dawnguard.
Carl!!!! 23 Feb, 2014 @ 6:16pm
Yeh, I hoard books as well. All journals, skill books, unique-ish books (IE that aren't skill books, but have values like 25, 75, 500, etc). And with the Unlimited Bookshelves mod, I can store a lot, plus smaller items on shelves as well.
aetherswift  [author] 23 Feb, 2014 @ 3:34pm
@zzackmann Thank you so much! So glad you like it. The custom bookshelves were the biggest headache to create but oh so worth it for a book hoarder like myself... ;)
Carl!!!! 23 Feb, 2014 @ 5:16am
Also love the statues on the bookshelves. Standard bookshelves can be fairly boring.
Carl!!!! 23 Feb, 2014 @ 5:16am
Luckily, my hearthfire house of choice is heljarchen hall, because I have a couple mods for it, that actually allow me to have 2 greenhouse wings. But I absolutely love darkwood. It's a nice retreat and it's rather peaceful. Very ideal for my alchemist assassin playthrough.
aetherswift  [author] 12 Oct, 2013 @ 11:07am
@mjfranklin As I said in the description, I built the Retreat on that site months before Hearthfire was released. Therefore this mod is incompatible with Hearthfire. Sorry for the inconvenience.
aetherswift  [author] 10 Jul, 2013 @ 7:26am
@XX37 I'm happy to hear it! Skyrim is one of those classic repeatable games for me, and I've noticed there are a few others who still play as well. Glad to hear Darkwood Retreat can still be useful to you! :)
XX37 9 Jul, 2013 @ 9:17pm
I wanted to say I still use this mod. For a selfmade wantabe king mix this with a few others and I'm set :)
Raize 2 Jun, 2013 @ 3:39pm
@d_sheik, I think Hearthfire sucks, but I do like to have children to adopt. And random bandit raids.
d_sheik 29 Apr, 2013 @ 4:45pm
@aetherswift Well Heartfire sucks. I know, I have it. Your mod looks good. If i do decide to use this home Hearthfire will not be a factor.
TheLunchLady 30 Dec, 2012 @ 4:34pm
Awesome mod, in a great location! Great Job, my friend. Thank you.
LamaWaffle 2 Dec, 2012 @ 12:34am
NOO!
This mod looks amazing!! PLZ get support for hearthfire and dawnguard PLZZ!!!
Technobow 12 Nov, 2012 @ 10:55pm
Can you make higher the altitude of Darkwood Retreat? Something like foundation stones (or log woods) will be inserted between the floor level and the ground. It's simple and stupid idea, but maybe work.
Dr.Darkslayer 25 Oct, 2012 @ 9:51am
thats an amazing mod but i cannot put my swords into the desplays!
Azraiel 11 Oct, 2012 @ 1:46am
This is a beautiful mod, my sympathies about the location conflict. XD
Havoc 9 Oct, 2012 @ 10:32pm
Bethesda appropriates the 'build your own home' mod for the DLC, now they steal your house location! xD
aetherswift  [author] 9 Oct, 2012 @ 7:21am
Yes, unfortunately I built Darkwood Retreat several months before the Hearthfire DLC was released. Hearthfire uses the same location I chose to build, so there is a conflict.

Bethesda changed the shape of the ground there, so even if you don't chose to use the Falkreath location for your Hearthfire home, Darkwood Retreat appears to sink in to the ground. The inside of the Retreat is unharmed, but the outside, although still usable, is very different and definitely not how I created it.

I regret that this happened, and that there is no easy fix for me to make them compatible. I'll keep Darkwood Retreat as it is for those who don't have Hearthfire. For those who do, I'm sorry!

If I make another mod in the future, hopefully I'll have more luck in choosing a location!
Havoc 9 Oct, 2012 @ 12:51am
There is a conflict with hearthfire? no wonder the retreat was sinking into the ground.. Its a shame really, I like this mod.
Wolfie 5 Oct, 2012 @ 11:56pm
Just an FYI This home conflicts directly with heartfire DLC as they are planted on the same site
Skullgrim69 26 Sep, 2012 @ 8:56am
@aetherswift, still loving the house, although followers seem to have a prob.; but i guess thats the case in any mod home. Anyway, after taking care of my bounty, valkari setteled down, and i left her some flowers on her counter:) I was thinking if it wouldent be too much trouble, perhaps u could change a few of the weapon plaques, to shield holders? many weapon racks; but no shield displays. just a thought, Curt.
Halkaun (Croian) 12 Sep, 2012 @ 5:42pm
love the reference in the basement, classic
Rella 2 Sep, 2012 @ 12:29am
AMAZING. Holy crap that is literally the most incredible house in the WORLD if you dont have it you have to get it !! Its just a download away !! Quite possibly the most aesthetically pleasing play owned houses on the workshop its a must have ! Holy fuck, FUCKING GET IT
XX37 30 Aug, 2012 @ 6:41am
Aether love the house. The detail especially the Grotto. Thank you for your work. Point of fact. Beings that its just north of the Fox Hole the two houses go great together :).
Genie Lamp 19 Aug, 2012 @ 5:18pm
Simply the best! I deleted all my other player homes once I got my hands on this one.

Thank you very much.
aetherswift  [author] 13 Aug, 2012 @ 9:48pm
UPDATE:

- Added a new weapon rack and plaque to the secret thief den (by request of a subscriber and commenter, ras3190)
- Bug fixes (including respawn issues on certain containers)

And a new big secret is in development and will be published soon... :3

Thanks to all who have commented, for your compliments and for helping me find and squash those bugs. Y'all are the best! <3
