Hmm... I guess it depends on the faction you go against but yeah, they generally do little damage but are composed of multiple "rounds" so they will gib limbs faster. They also bounce on metal so they won't penetrate hard armor. You can still kill with them, though. I gave them a try yesterday and I could just fight vanilla factions with minimal problems.

Gibbing heads or weapons is pretty effective.

Ranged one's, for how few there are, they deal barely any damage.

Alright, I just updated this and the florans faction. Their bodyparts now also drop Pixels, which can be harvested as if they were gold. Also, all of the units have jetpacks now coz the ai simply cannot navigate some areas with the jump mechanic.

So its basically a minorly different rendition of the Florans mod.
But different enough to be its own mod
I just recommend changing the names of the units (minus the brain) to something less like the florans, in aspect to their name, as warriors and mercs are literally THE SAME.
But besides that is a pretty good mod

I just managed to fix a major bug with the Priest energy cannon. I will see what else I can throw in it before releasing the patch. Probably more hairstyles or something.

LOL! Wait until they get their own bunker modules. Sadly, the AI won't be able to use them but I will probably add scenarios using them so players can assault Avian temples and Floran villages. :P

Just updated this and the Floran one. The main addition here is a new grenade bassed on the Dummy disruptor grenade so it works very similar to that. When the grenade explodes, it sets a field that releases energy beams in all directions for about 12 seconds. The AI would keep using vanilla grenades so having their own grenades should stop them from using foreign ones.

Another change I'd like to mention is the new look for Avian Warriors. They now look like buffed aztec-like... birds. :P

I'm also making a change to the other laser weapons so the AI gets less confused. The guns won't display the amount of charges anymore. They will all say "infinite" instead. That way the AI won't do weird stuff like losing time trying to reload the weapons.

Mkay... I have the next update almost ready. The main addition is a heavy laser cannon. It works in a different fashion. It's actually an edited Dummy Annihilator. So far it's working like this:

-It's really cumbersome so it weights a lot and aiming it is limited sometimes.
-Handguns charge up to 4, Rifles up to 12 and this Cannon can charge up to 30.
-Firing is different. You need to hold down the firing button and it will start charging. Once completely charged, the beam will be released.
-It's possible to fire the beam early by releasing the firing button but you risk weapon not firing at all if you release too early.
-It does the same amount of damage than the rifle but since it can fire up to 30 charges, it can easily pierce bunker walls.

The Apex are supposed to be like really advanced, I think. The Glitch are medieval robots so not those ones. :P


@Admiral Jamison: You are right about the helms. They are too OP. I've actually changed this for both Florans and Avians in my game but I'm trying to add more changes before a release. These are the current changes so far:

Florans
-Helms are not overpowered anymore. They break when heavily damaged.
-Florans with helms have leaf hair under them now.
-Fixed a bug causing Floran Greenfingers to use a back leg as the front one.
-Fixed some items using the wrong materials.


Avians
-Added 2 more feather hairstyles and edited some of the existing ones.
-Helms are not overpowered anymore. They break when heavily damaged.
-Avians with helms have feather hair under them now.

I would strongly recommend adding a faction from Starbound that is really OP or atleast at the level of most medium-strong faction alongside these Floran and Avian which are pretty weak.

i also did some more testing right now, and the damage seems to be fine.
the armor penetration seems so be a bit to low. And the helmets are to tough

Well, I've been doing some testing and the laser rifle can gib heads with a fully charged shot. Even its lowest charged shots can still kill enemies at long distances.

I will add more variety in energy weapons, though. Maybe a really powerful cannon that can charge up to 20 but at a slow rate. I could also add something similar to a shotgun.

I could add something with a higher fire rate but since these weapons recharge their ammo automatically, it would just be able to fire non stop like it happens with the current ones.

Most of it is edited Floran stuff but will change with every update. I need feedback on the current build so I can make things better. :3
