Those two mods should be fully compatible so that suggests a local issue on your end.
And since it is a CTD, that would suggest corrupted data or some unknown conflict.
This solution became standard for WH2, you can try and see if it works with WH1:
1. Navigate to your userprofile AppData folder (make sure hidden folders are visible in Windows) (alternatively type %appdata% into the explorer adress bar and press enter).
2. Head into Roaming.
3. Double-click on the folder called The Creative Assembly.
4. Delete the Launcher folder if it is present. This will remove any corrupted or old launcher data.
5. Unsubscribe and resubscribe to the mod.
Give that a spin!
Cheers!
I should mention that you shouldn't give up your hunt. The WH3 traits are so atrocious that other authors have followed in this mod's footsteps. Though they only do lightweight tweaking to existing traits instead of fully overhauling the trait list. But any port in a storm, so I'd suggest searching around with the keyword "traits" in WH3!
Thank you for the quick response!
I completely understand why you cannot invest such time and energy!
Thank you for all your hard work with this and your other mods!
Hi! Thanks for the interest PIXY! I wanted to write a quick to-read-reply but it turned into a whole paragraph:
I am interested for sure, but I definitely cannot invest the time and energy that such a big project would require (at least not in a way that would be to my tastes or without half-assing things). You have to remember there is now a trilogy's worth of characters, stats and abilities, and there is also incredibly compounding complexity attached to that. Thousands of db-entries would have to be referenced. Every time CA moves a column in the next 4 years worth of updates, the mod would be bricked and I would have to look for needles in a haystack. As a solo modder whose only payment is having fun making stuff, it would be just a nightmare. I could wait until the very end of the game's lifecycle but odds are that we'll all be moving on to playing WH40K total war instead.
Do you have any interest in creating a version of this mod for Warhammer 3?
As the vanilla traits seem to have become rather lackluster again
An "outdated" popup can be safely ignored, CA has not patched or added anything to the game. The mod will work like normal. The "outdated" label is likely there because they reworked the game launcher.
You say warhammer didn't get an update, but the outdated mode appears on the start page. 10 days ago, there was no problem
What are you on about? Warhammer 1 hasn't received an update for years, there is nothing to update for.
No idea how that segment of text survived my many edits of the workshop page information. It is indeed only technically correct and doesn't mention all the vital caveats. The mod is technically save compatible in that you can load it into old campaigns but it is 100% definitely intended for new campaigns because it disables all the old vanilla traits. I'll make sure to update it for clarity.
Thanks! =)
Yes and no. There are still triggered traits, I've not tweaked those. So if you lose multiple battles you get traits with penalties. As for starting traits, there are few ways to make bad traits appealing if there are good traits in the same pool. CA made this work in WH2 where the High Elves only have bad traits but can pay influence points to get good traits, which is a lot more interesting. In this mod I've gone for the angle of providing some traits that are themed as negative such as arrogant and maimed leg and these all come with a drawback. But the positives they provide offset this and gives them the same appeal as a purely positive trait. For example, an arrogant lord is a good offensive pick but will walk into trouble. There is also a lore/immersion aspect guiding all this - an archer lord can be arrogant but can't be blind or have a maimed arm as he/she would not be able to operate their weapon.
Ya welcome! Glad you like it :)
As my dawg Elitewrecker PT stated, they are meant to be used together.
Secrets and wonders can be found in the most tenebrous corners of this place.
@Sanders @Smaug
You do me honor!
See the notice, "NOTICE REGARDING WH2 SEQUEL", just slightly above.
Great to hear! Enjoy! :)
Good point, might solve it!
@Raikan
Haha, cheers! I'll hold my thumbs.
The file is named startingtraitsremastered
Hmm, yeah, it is weird as heck. I recommend checking out the official forums, the launcher freaks out a lot (for example https://forums.totalwar.com/discussion/198518/mods-not-updating)
Does the launcher say it is enabled still? Because if so I can send you the latest file and you can play with the mod that way.
I assume, something like (frosty, starting trait)
I see your other mods, unbind , etc.
1. I have tried unsub and sub again.
2. restarting steam/computer
3. verify game files
4. Every other mod works fine.
5. I have your other mods as well, and they seem to download/update fine.
6. For some odd reason, it's just this mod not updating.
So, i'm guessing it has something to do with the launcher itself not updating? Do you have the file upload somewhere else? Maybe I can just direct download from there.
That is very likely either a launcher issue or freak bug on your end. Try deleting the mod and resubscribing.
Thanks! :D Don't worry, while I've moved onto WH2, I will still be keeping STR & LLR up and running (as long as CA doesn't suddenly release one of their major mod-breaking patches but I doubt they'll revisit WH1).
P.S. Been a fan for a long time now, thank you for the great work! Please please keep this mod updated for Warhammer 1
The trait should no longer be assigned! Let me know if the issue persists and I'll uproot the trait entirely from the mod.
