The Librarian - Book Sorting

@SideQuestPubs I agree with removing the "The" completely. I think it's completely unnecessary and should be removed.

+1 to remove the "The"s
SideQuestPubs 1 Dec, 2013 @ 8:32am
Possible revision for those who want the sorting but don't like seeing the "the" at the end:
Remove "the" entirely. And "a" in the case of books that would normally have started with that.

Although this suggestion is as much for those gamers to implement themselves (by way of opening up the creation kit and making whatever changes they prefer) as it is for the mod's creator.
Though of course the first option does depend on having the mod author's permission to modify the mod.

Just a suggestion, of course.

This mod seems to be what I'm looking for... however, I'm wondering one thing:
Is there an option to sort the books like you have done, except still display the titles to the player normally, with "the" being at the beginning?

Basically, I'm looking for something that would use your sorting method, but with the titles being displayed as they originally were.

Thanks for the library reorganization. It fairly parallels our home library. Now I don't have to OCD anymore about it:)! Thumbs up!

@Rice Burner
This only renames books, it won't give them to you. You'll have to hunt them down yourself.
This mod should be compatible with any mod that does not change the names or models of the in game books. Mods that add more books still work, but they won't be renamed.
Stiller 31 Mar, 2013 @ 5:20am
hi, just wondering. does this mod actually give you all the available books on skyrim or just rearrange the naming. if not, can you recommend a mod (if any) that's compatible with this one? thanks.
LoopyKay 22 Mar, 2013 @ 10:46pm
Nice mod - I particularly like the detail of matching books within a set (eg Wolf Queen V8 looked odd on the shelf without this mod). If you were looking to udate it futher, any chance the image of the book in the backpack can match the book on the shelf?
XamaX 8 Mar, 2013 @ 8:51pm
Tried collecting the books in my first playthough, gave up due to a lack of this mod. Maybe trying again in my new game :)
ebenbrooks 1 Jan, 2013 @ 10:31am
Just a quick note. LOVE the mod, but there are a couple of books that start with "A" that you missed, as in "A Minor Maze", etc. Not a huge problem, since now they're the rare exception rather than the rule, but I thought you'd want to know. Thank you for this mod! Sorting books properly before was driving me INSANE!

This mod is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. I collect books from all of Skyrim in hope of one day sitting down and reading the lore. All this mod needs to be perfect is integration with Books Books Books - yes, I know, it would break the normal mod, but couldn't you make another version that references book mods - like some mods have normal and Dawnguard editions? Just an idea. But regardless, thank you for this!

Thank you for all the feedback on The Librarian! Short of writing fancy scripts, I think I have done all I can, but leave feedback if you find any bugs or have ideas. Compatability with other mods is a bit tricky, so I don't think I can do much with that, sadly.

Leave your praise if you're happy with the mod as well, it gives me a boner. Um, I mean, it makes me happy.
Neph 28 Oct, 2012 @ 11:01pm
This is wonderful! I always collect books in games when I can and I try to make libraries, so this is amazing. Thank you!
Alyssa 23 Aug, 2012 @ 8:25pm
This is great! Thanks! Kinda makes sense that it should be in the game already. This makes it much easier to collect books. Much love <3

Now if only I could get a mod that auto alphabetised the books into the shelves and showed me what books I already owned in the game. Man that wouldn't be an easy mod to make but one can dream :D
sd_Jasper 20 Aug, 2012 @ 9:09pm
I noticed that the unofficial patch touched a lot of books. You could change your load order, but lose the fixes. Any plans on getting these mods to work together?
magiceatsyou 8 May, 2012 @ 1:06am
It is working on some of my books, but not all of them. What could I be doing wrong? I let Skyrim download it before I played, it says that it is downloaded fine. I only found one of my 2920 books with the version in front of the title. Do I need to drop them all or put them in a chest, possibly?
Saint Void 26 Apr, 2012 @ 10:06pm
Awesome. Great for us players with OCD ;) Seems like it was a lot of work.

Minor request: I know its not 'proper' and I cringe to ask but is it possible to have a setting or a alternate version of the mod that just removes all "the" from the titles entirely. Just looks so much cleaner in my opinion without the "The", at the end or otherwise.
SkyGrim 11 Mar, 2012 @ 10:05pm
Nope, Roman numeral books are un touched, and Mystery of Talara part 4 is also untouched, how do i check if i have the right version? I'm using steam
SkyGrim 11 Mar, 2012 @ 9:56pm
Doesn't steam update automatically? I'll check again..lol
MevNav  [author] 11 Mar, 2012 @ 10:35am
Already fixed. Please make sure you have the correct version of my mod.
SkyGrim 4 Mar, 2012 @ 7:54pm
Great job, looks good. I noticed the Roman numeral books are still messed up, changing them to numbers wouldn't be a big deal, would it? Mystery of Talara Part four is unchanged, the rest in that series are v1,v2,v3 so being named part 4 puts it at the beginning of the series......Everything else looks great
SkyGrim 4 Mar, 2012 @ 12:24pm
Thank you Amun-Ra you rock
MevNav  [author] 3 Mar, 2012 @ 1:50pm
Although sometimes the world model seems to be different for no reason at all. Meh, oh well, I'm fixing it.
MevNav  [author] 3 Mar, 2012 @ 1:27pm
The reasons series books have different covers is because some boost skills, and some skill boosting books usually have different covers. I'll keep the inventory model the same to let users know which ones boost skills, but the world model I will change.
SkyGrim 2 Mar, 2012 @ 2:23am
ya
VeeDubb65 2 Mar, 2012 @ 12:49am
Totally missed that part. I consider having different models for books in the same series to be a bug, so straightening that out would be super.
SkyGrim 1 Mar, 2012 @ 8:01am
thats exactly what the modder wants to do, just the series books that look different from each other, not allbooks to look the same
VeeDubb65 1 Mar, 2012 @ 12:30am
please don't change the world model. Many of them look different for a reason. The only way I would support changing the world model is when there are multiple versions of the same book, or when not all books in a given series have the same model. Otherwise, I would have to uninstall this one immediately.
SkyGrim 29 Feb, 2012 @ 7:35pm
lol, just checked it now, the 2920 books are doing the same thing as songs of the return, i guess you need to number 01,02,03.....sorry, m'bad
SkyGrim 29 Feb, 2012 @ 7:23pm
or put a zero in front of the single nimbers ; )
SkyGrim 29 Feb, 2012 @ 6:42pm
there are a few other series name that are a bit messed up, for example the roman numeral books stacking alphabetically, charwiich koniinge v2 is missing the "letters", mystery of talara part4(the rest are v1,v2...), book of riddles yellow, book of riddles red(keeps them together) I don't know if you can do anything about the songs of the return but they are in order from the first number (19,2,24,56,7) i think if you put an extra space before the single numbers it should go in order anyways thats my thoughts cheers
SkyGrim 29 Feb, 2012 @ 6:32pm
the 2920 sure didn't take you long!
SkyGrim 29 Feb, 2012 @ 6:31pm
i think the same book series is a great idea
MevNav  [author] 29 Feb, 2012 @ 4:03pm
Late reply, but I'll work on what you guys suggested.
SkyGrim 17 Feb, 2012 @ 10:10pm
Is there any way you can incorporate the books from moog.empires mod, books books books? I want to know before I bother to get that mod. Im trying to collect the books from all elder scrolls games, and your organising is the only way to go!
SkyGrim 17 Feb, 2012 @ 9:27pm
Hey! Niiiiice mod!!! I love it! If you don't mind a suggestion, tho, the 2920 series is going by alpabetical order with the month. If you could change them to go by the volume that would be great. Eg: 2920, Morning Star, v1 should be 2920 v1, Morning Star. Think you could throw that in on an update? That would be great. Good job on this. CHEERS
Silent Death 13 Feb, 2012 @ 8:36pm
I have noticed some books are not fixed? Example some are A Dance in Fire and some are Dance in Fire, A. Possible to fix this? Not really a problem but I am trying to get sets in numerical order. :-) ty for all the effort tho.
MevNav  [author] 11 Feb, 2012 @ 8:11am
@napnapcrations
I don't think it will, I didn't take those kinds of mods into consideration.
Yotarian 11 Feb, 2012 @ 7:26am
@ Orgcon I completely agree. Its especially annoying to find v1, v2, and v3 in a series only to find they each have different appearances... Also, nice profile pic!
76561198055523740 10 Feb, 2012 @ 9:21pm
Is this compatible with mods that rename the books to add (skill) or (quest) to the end of them?
Orgcon 10 Feb, 2012 @ 6:55am
Being able to organise them by size would also be beneficial to my OCD. ;)
Melitzrah (Mel * Melianteas) 10 Feb, 2012 @ 3:21am
this is great. I thought I was the only one who spend time rearanging books every time I've got a new one. My husband firmly belives I have a compulsive ORDER er... disorder he means....
Winston 9 Feb, 2012 @ 3:16pm
Err, so much
Winston 9 Feb, 2012 @ 3:16pm
Thank you do much! I thought I was the only one who collected books!
MevNav  [author] 9 Feb, 2012 @ 11:14am
@ Bruce Wayne
2920 is a number and not an article, and those books are part of a series, so they should stay together on the shelves... at least in my opinion. I'll think about it, though.
Bruce Wayne 9 Feb, 2012 @ 6:35am
nice man, are the 2920 books included as well?
