Thank you for your nice comment!
It's nice to see someone appreciate the design of the engine room. (I know how this must sound, lol) But as you describe it, it was exactly how i wanted it to be (to look very powerful).
About the engines, i deliberately made the ship to feel heavy, even sluggish tbh. I never liked it when ppl. create HUGE ships that move like spacefighters (not just in Empyrion), it just doesn't feel right. to me.
I really hope the devs will someday, create a in game mechanic that prevents really heavy ships to move and feel too nimble.
About planetary landing. I know that everyone wants their CV to land on planets,i'm probably the only one how doesnt, lol.
But i'm curious about the changes you make. Please keep me up to date!
(Still trying to learn as much as possible)
Cheers!
Okay, just got this into game on 7.0; on Akua which is a 0.84g world she is grossly underpowered in the engine department. 3m/s in the z-axis, 6m/s in the y-axis and 31ms fore, 12 ms aft in the x-axis. This means she cannot even lift off with the z-axis alone. Gonna spend some time finding the engines in the BP and seeing if I can get a better balance of engines on this model without breaking it.....why? Because I really like the design. Externally she looks great, I love that both hangars are actually linked so you can share the repair bay from either side, with lots of space to dock internally without blocking the doors.
I love the crafting area, I tend to build mine along those lines too; with lots of storage to hand.
I *LOVE* the engineering room, they way the engines look like a glowing power core; they is a really genius idea....want to see if I can maintain that while upgrading the thrusters.
Really REALLY good job overall; if I can just fix the thruster issues I can see myself using this CV A LOT; especially with a little automation to add auto-deploying ramps to the hangar docks for HV access.
As to which is flagship, the size of the ship does not matter... a Flag Ship is the ship from which the fleet admiral chooses to command; this could be a trawler if the Admiral wanted it to be...it has nothing to do with size, power or anything else; but where the Admiral chooses to command from.
As to your ship design, Neal, I like it from the pictures.....just about to patch back to EXP-7 to have a look at it and customise it to my tastes if I find I REALLY like it :)
"if the pegasus was the flagship then why did the "old man" command the fleet from the galactica if u know so much then answer that."
Adama held command of the fleet (after cains death) because he was the highest ranking officer and he stayed on the Galactica because it was his ship. This doesn't change the fact that Pegasus was bigger and more modern. They even said that numerous times in the series. Have you even watched it? It was obvious, but maye they should have shown some diagram for ppl. not understanding dialog, lol.
It was a succession of events that lead to that constellation, not some Computer game setup, where the strongest ship automaticly is considered the flagship. Adama chose to stay on Galactica because it was the ship he liked and the one he knew inside out.
If you don't have something else to say about the "Europa-Battlecruiser", i consider this conversation over.
i played bsgo by bigpoint the peggy is still smaller then the galactica by approxmaly .5kilometers in length the promethius is approx.3 kilometers from bow to stern galactica 2.5 kilometers peggy kilometers i should know ive done the reserch pluss if u look on thw workshop im sure u wont find the peggy listed but only see galactica and the 2004 series base star
In both Battlestar series the Pegasus way WAY bigger than 118x196x40 meters. I have no idea what series you watched, lol.
In the new series, Battlestar Pegasus was clearly much bigger than galactica.
(Galactica ca. 1400 meters, Pegasus ca. 1800 meters)
But anyway, this ship is not even similar to either one nor is it supposed to be. Please search for the definition of the word "inspiration", maybe that helps you a bit.
To be honest i don't care what is allowed in Space engineers, as long as EGS does things different. When the day comes and thrusters do actually damage hull blocks, i'll either modify the ship accordingly or delete it from workshop.
Btw, the ship has a Warp Core, no worries... have you even seen the ship in game?
If you don't like the ship, or don't like the way i build ships then don't use it.
Cheers!
also rummors have it that the hrusters are going to be required to be visable from the outside due to egs folloing space engineers by keen gameing company and will cause damage in a future updats so any cvs sv's or hv with thruster s that cant be visible from outside ur looking at a catastrophic failure and hull breach if not redone by that time not sure when it will accure but i used to play SE and i was shall we say supprized the day i got that update on that game mainly because i built my ships the same way and when i logged in and turned on my thrusters my carrier blew in half from the thrusters
no, because of following reasons:
Battlestar Pegasus is MUCH bigger
Battlestar Pegasus looks very different
Battlestar Pegasus is from the BSG universe
This design is just inspired by BSG, but it's not supposed to be a Battlestar. (read description.)
If i tried to replicate Battlestar Pegasus, it would have looked very different.
Sorry that it doesn't suit your taste.
Those internal thrusters you can see at the screenshots are intended to represent a energy core (because the ones the game provides look more than lame IMHO). Other thrusters are hidden mostly because i don't like the "thrusters everywhere" look. (and to keep them protected from enemy fire, btw.)
You see everyone prefers a different amount of "realism" when building ships.
If you don't like this one, don't use it.
Cheers!
Probably not.
I just don't have the time to to play EGS lately.
Thanks for making that video!
And yes, the ship is not supposed to land or take off from a planet, as i said previously.
Cheers!
- Added Waprdrive and improved some minor things.
- Optimized Turret positions result in much greater fireing arcs.
(See change note for more info.)
Will be added ASAP.
Ok.
On the other hand if i wanted it to land on a planet, i would have constructed it completely different anyways.
Those big hangars will really come into play as soon as SV-HV or CV-CV docking become a thing (dropships).
Then okay.
But the Max. Consumption would still be below half of the Max. Output.
It's not supposed to land. Energy costs would be horrendous anyways.
but you need a least 3 times of down side thrusters, or the ship won't takeoff.
