And a lady that takes time to dress up in such a regal flowing dress is going to take time to put on make-up- (and these women had teams of servant ladies to help them do it all) and they did have make up in medieval times though I will admit it was a bit different to what we have today. however, it was considered "feminine"- Just check up Queen Elizabeth.
