I invite a friend and then I am waiting for the message to close after inviting but nothing happens. Tried with long war 2 and long war 2 co op installed. If it works how did anybody make it work?

i doubt they'd be interested in that. Might as well just use parsec at that point. Tried everything except inviting from squad select (vs infiltration screen). Xcom 3 needs this feature at release. Thought the xcom 2 mod community would have handled something like this given how long its been out, but maybe the next installment will have a bigger following if the devs fail at it.

You can always just share your screen on discord or "cross play" through steam and pretend to play coop that way I suppose?

damn it seems like you're right. i get a 'mismatch game version' whenever i try to invite someone. Even on a fresh save with just this and long war installed on both our ends. What a shame

@Jet; this mod doesn't work and never did.
Base with long war or not, never worked.
the only time I got it to connect and "run"; it constantly kept de-syncing and was completely unplayable.

so only base game + long war is fine. Ok. As long as its stable and fun I can save coop for the base and DLC for solo play.

This is the last comment I'm gonna post for a little while, we have gotten great support from firaxis developers but sadly non of that support translated into native code changes that fix underlying problems with the networking solution, I'm not gonna start mentioning names or bugs but due to that and low player demand we've decided tha continuing to pour efforts into this project is not viable, the code is out there and you're welcome to try and improve it (with proper credit)

We've deleted negative posts that do not contribute to the discussion.
The testing I've mentioned have been with public versions with non team-members.
your problems seem to be something that's (as I've stated multiple times) are not due to our mod but due to native code sending data to our logic, all the logic in our connection tests are "Is this Hash == the hash from the other side" so your problems of connections are not stemming from our mod but from somewhere else.

I never stated it never worked for any of the internal testings.
I'm stating that there is indeed an issue present in the build that is available to the rest of us.
I'm not the only one having these issues so it's no enclosed/isolatied problem either.
So when I see someone delete my posts that are quite valid I can only start to speculate why that is.
So my accosations, no matter how harsh they may seem, are very much valid.
And as long as you guys understand this and keep the door open for dialogue instead of attempting to silence the problem by deleting my posts, I won't have an issue.

It's only be fair to all parties.

so yeah I feel like accusing us of not being able to take criticism maybe appriciate what we've produced so far, I am sorry you cant connect but just because you're not able to dosnt mean no one is, for a fact we've tested this mod personally hundreds of times and when people follow instructions it have always worked fine.

I'd be glad to make this work better but honestly a lot of the known bugs stem from native code, so far no other modders have come forth to help us with coop and I dont expect anyone to do so for XCom 2, We've talked with firaxis for a long time advocating for improvements to the native code but those improvements weren't made. We think this is close to the best you can do with the current networking code.

That sounds like a brilliant idea, Gaelic.
If the devs have decided to abandon this, I see no reason why others shouldn't take it over.
Or make different versions of it to improve it so it would possibly/actually work when you want to play, instead of having to plug and pray for it to work as it is right now unfortunately.

I've been unable to play a *single* match yet.
Despite doing everything the devs have suggested and I've tried for DAYS.
Wish they would take real critizism seriously instead of just deleting my posts about the actual state of this.
the problem is valid, it's real and it won't solve itself by ignoring it after all.

Question: when the client move, is it right that the fog of war will stay where it is, until the next host turn? or may this be a bug ? it makes sneaking very impossible if the client dont see where he run, cause of the fog of war is still there after his turn.

Didn't solve the problem.
Problem still persist, we managed to get into a game but was out of sync and were unable to actually do anything and that was on a 40th attempt by removing every DLC installed too and clearing the config each time we attempted.

I'm stuck at waiting for this message to close.
And no matter how long we wait, it just won't continue.
We've deleted our config as you suggested and we could join each other now in a normal multiplayer match which we couldn't before.
We did this to test if we could find each other without having mismatching "versions".
Any suggestions?

As stated, we've checked all these things.
Game version is the same, mods are the same.
Not sure what you mean with ini though but isn't that where I can see the game version?

the game is reporting a difference between the 2 versions, it could be ini, mods or game version. we're not the ones doing the testing that's on firaxis

Keep getting the "wrong version" when I try this.
No idea what is causing it.
Any ideas? And yes we've checked if it's the game version is the same on both machines and yes we also run with the correct and same mods.

I want CO-Op in xcom so badly. A lot of my friends are not good at the type of gameplay and for them to be able to piggyback on me would make getting into the genre a lot easier.

Yes, the VIP mission do not work, and we stated that above. For the best XCOM 2 Co-Op experience, try our other Co-Op mod. As we stated in the last video, we're happy to come back if there is overwhleming support for any particular mod. So far, there hasn't been for Co-Op.

so this mod is actually broken, regardless how many times your team says its not, cant even get into a game before it crashes, i think it only worked once since we tried and we couldnt even finish the mission because the game didnt know we rescued the vip yet

The mod still works, and we'll leave it up. In fact, we've promised to update it to 6 player Co-Op if Firaxis ever changes their base code. Until then, we're working on www.tribeofgods.com
