Yeah, after a certain amount the game just gets buggy for no reason. I hear it's at least partially related to how much RAM you have available.
No, SEGA is just lazy.
After that your unit may easily instantly route due to the sustained damage and you can't reactivate it for 60 seconds. I may have to increase the cooldown to several minutes or make it a one-time-only use, but aside from that I think it works decently well.
