So by default all books should have minimum spawn rates. However, the loot tables are HUGE, so there are tons of different books. If you're having trouble knowing which books you have and need to look for, you can read the first page of everything you have. Pages read will be global so you can grab new books that dont have read pages.
On the positive side, at least books tend to spawn where other things dont, so its not like you're crowding important items out by spawning 3 books in a desk or 6 books on a shelf.
I'd be very interested in the 'per-page bonus' code as it would go a long way in applying functionality to CD's/Cassettes as well!
...come to think of it, I've only finished a handful of the hundreds of good books I have. *smile* And I love them all.
For this mod im going no rewards to induce the player to find and read more books. I'd like rewards to be a per-page thing, so if you read a spooky book you get stressed ;)
Anyway, thank you for your work, and the one thought on what you already are doing: Might an already-read book still have some, though reduced, reward? I know I've read a lot of books twice with pleasure.
cheers
removing it removes error ;)
The issue is that if the books gave a bonus, once you read the book the bonus would be instant forever- example. You finish moby dick which has a -50 bordom. You put it on the shelf. You can then pull it down and insta-receive a -50 bordem just by using the already read book again. Thats broken.
The design goal for the mod is that each new page reduces boredom (or increases it, if you happen to find Tax Law Compendium 1957-1976). That way you can fill a library with read books, but you only get the bonuses for reading a fresh book. I'm working on updating the mod so that the effect is by page rather than by on use. This requires coding and is a WIP.
