Pew Pew - Thank you! Why should the Game end just because you are shot down ;-) The Carrier launch was made from a mixture of unitplay / unitcapture scripts I made as well as timed animations to work around them all, fairly easy once you know how!

I actually like that you designed a rescue section should you bail out. Its so rare to see that in these aircraft centered missions.

i also want to know how you manage to get the AI to launch off Freedom. Did you copy the code from the Jets Showcase?

Yes. I found this as well. I have dispatched the YAK-130 charging. However, after that I found that TO-201 on the ground would just charge at me and spam missiles at me before my wingman can even show up. Please make sure that the TO-201 doesn't fire at all when on the ground again, I saw stealth yellow circles firing at me but I only have visual contact of TO-201 on the ground. Thanks. Maybe you can change it and let wingman takeoff with me like in Jets showcase so that I would not be left alone to fight 3 to 5 stealth jets at the same time.

I am surprised to the level of difficulty you are getting, so I shall check on everything to make sure its working as the following is in place, 1. The TO-201 do not activate until BLUFOR reach the airfield or the Radar is destroyed (which ever comes first) so you only have 2 jets to take care of at the beginning of the mission. 2. Any aircraft on the ground has their weapons disabled until they are airborne, so if they are firing missiles with this on is puzzling. 3. Do remember that you have the ability to call in a wingman for if the mission proves too difficult and help you take care of the bandits. I shall however make sure that everything is working as designed nevertheless.

1. Decrease the amount of TO-201 on the airfield to 1 and change the skill to medium. 2. Keep the TO-201 like this but send in two stealth F/A-181 in AA loadout as reinforcements with medium skills to balance the amount of missiles launched per salvo, if you add a stealth F/A-181 to be chosen by player it would be awesome too, since usually the first sortie would be stealth only just like in real life. Personally I recommend the first one because it's really laggy once I get into the airfield due to the amount of enemy jets. If you add another stealth F/A-181 with full AA loadout it would be even more realistic.

I just replay the mission for practice, however I found the mission to be quite unplayable. I understand your intention of setting the opfor pilot's skill to low, but the situation is a 1 vs 5 dogfight. Here's the problem: yes on close range they are cheap kills, but on long range their stealth profile and the capability to spam missiles are overpowered and they are also capable of spamming missiles when they are on the ground. The squad you sent in from the start just dies instantly without really destroying anything. I got two solutions.

That mission would say there is a enemy jet somewhere on the island, if an objective is not showing, it could of glitched on the ground at the airfield. Have a look and see if one is stuck behind debris.

Hey, I have destroyed the island, and it says secure the skies, what do I do? There are no objectives and aerial vehicles showing up on my radar.

I am using Ace3 and FIR. I think the problem is I can't lock them on and they can just shoot me and my wingman BVR.

Hhmm they are set to be of a low skill so should not be that much difficulty, are you using any mods at all that effects the weapons?

Hi schobi. Glad you like the mission. I am aware of the chopper not wanting to sit still it is something I am still working to perfect the AI is pretty thick

Ok just tested it. It works now. I would suggest to change the name of the task so its a bit more clear that you need to park it. Previous landings triggered the service module which made me expect some sort of automated ending.

Hi Lev, Thank you for your comment, with regards to the secure the skies, for some reason the ai does not always take off and you may find them stuck at the end of the runway with nothing better to do. However there is a bug as you should not get the land objective until that mission is complete. When you do land on the carrier though did you park the plane in the spot you started from as this is where the mission will end.

Firstly, great mission! It was a lot of fun and I liked the little references in there. I ran into a bug where the mission will not end. After the convoy attack, I receive two objectives, one is to secure the skies and the other is to land. I fly around for a little bit but see no other air contacts so I proceed to land. After doing the little extra bit, I perform the landing but am unable to get out of the jet (there is literally no option). The mission also does not end after that so the jet just sits on the carrier unmoving and the mission never ends for me.

I haven't finished the mission yet but when i played there was some problem with the repair, the 1st repair was good but when i tried to do the same thing a few min later, when i landed nothing happend, there is no repair so i done it manually by the boxes in the right and same happend to the 3rd try. Can you fix this pls? I'll be happy

Cheers for the update. I shall look into the resplendent script. As there are 3 jets that respawn when killed but the script should only trigger when the jet is destroyed and not continue running. I'll see what I can do.

Hi Daku, I did some testing.
Disregard the landing problem. I was being a complete noob and landing way too fast... I reduced speed to 250kph and the problem is gone.
About the FPS drop, I don't think it's related to the depot smoke. The first noticeable FPS drop happened when I approched the airfield (down to like 15), but then it went back to normal. However when the enemy To-201 started engaging me, my FPS went down to 10 or so. As soon as I shot the bandits down, my FPS magically restored...
I replayed the mission by going for the hangars first. The overall FPS for the rest of the mission is much better than going for radar->depot->hangar. I guess it's partly because the To-201 were constantly respawning until I took the hangars down, and their AI might be causing some problems...

Ok Russet, if you can do me a favour, when you start the mission, instead of going for the first mission of destroying the radar, go straight to bombing the armour depot and tell me if you get the drop in FPS, it could be due to the amount of smoke coming from the wreckage from what I can gather.

Hi Russet, Thanks for the feedback, I am not too sure what may be causing the FPS drop as the mission is quite light when it comes to demanding resources, but will see what I can find. As for getting damaged on landing, do you get damaged even if you do an auto pilot landing?

Hey mate, really good mission. I really enjoyed it, but I have a few problems I want to report:
1. Optimisation: After about 10 mins into the mission my FPS gradually dropped from 20-30 to sub 10, which makes it unplayable... It happened when I started bombing the hangars. My computer isn't that good but this low FPS is abnormal. After I returned to the carrier to rearm, the FPS restored a bit but still laggy.
2. Can't land: After finishing all the missions I buzzed the tower and tried to land, but when I touched the deck my plane just gets damaged and I was forced to eject. I tried mutiple times and kept getting damaged. I don't know why, because when I went back to rearm everything was alright...
BTW I'm running vanilla.

To rearm you request it via the communications menu which will give you the objective to go the the carrier. Once you have landed and come to a complete stop it will trigger the rearm script.

@Canadian_Cabinet .... hold L-Alt to freelook. Or double tapping the same key will toggle freelook. You can also find a setting for vehicles, where the default for the mouse movement is freelook, rather then steering. This can also be accomplished by double tapping L-Alt in a vehicle

Like the mission alot, and yeah wookie is right, its a whole lot better then the showcase. loved the flyby form top gun, keep it up, one idea, take out a bombing location and put a convoy task to destroy change it up alittle. will recommend this mission to my friends.:steamhappy:

Wow-a really well put together mission! All the animations and effects are top notch. Probably better made than the official jets showcase mission. Keep it up!
