Had to comment on "Scotland tried it first" statement. Not sure where you got your degree, but I would get your money back.

The Scots did throw financial support to the canal, but never personally laid hands on it. The french are to thank for the thought of trying, the scots just lost their money when the french failed.

I've seen that artwork on the loading screen for the game once. How'd it end up there if the designers never put the actual wonder in the game? Still a great mod though!

Locate and delete <TradeRouteModifier>25</TradeRouteModifier> place <CityConnectionTradeRouteModifier>25</CityConnectionTradeRouteModifier> instead.
It works for me.

you should be abel to make a "canal" tile improvement, like you can with roads and rail roads, they should take longer to construct than roads and railroads so you could move ships from your capital, if it happened to be a couple tiles from the coast, in and out, and youd also be able to move cargoships in and out of an inland capital.... but to make so they couldnt be every where, you would only be able to build them in a straight line (not around terrain obsticles like mountains...) and they'd cost quite abit (lets say, 8 GPT) to prevent over useage, oh, and they could only be like, 1 to 4 tiles in length... Just saying though, if you could use a canal as a tile improvement, it would be pretty awesome, who else thinks so?

Does this mod actually add the Panama Canal on the map? If it does, this would be a huge military and trade advantage. It would be great if one could actually sail ships through the canal.

Joey72099 that's what I was thinking also, but I think only a great engineer should be able to build one and ships should have no defense while stopped in it.

It would be cool if you could have a worker make a canal so your boats could go through an isthmus but your enemy boats couldn't and it would be good to shorten trade routes.

Seen as much has changed with BNW, will the ability of the Panama Canal be changed, and if so what changes are thinking of making. If I had to make a suggestion I would say it should add something like +4 gold to the wonder's owner for each sea trade route leaving or entering the city in which its built, and a free Seaport (as Harbors are usually built in the mid-game and this wonder is pretty much a late-game wonder). Either way, looking forward to the BNW version of this mod.

since it's a canal, it wouold be cool if it can only be built if the city has an Isthmus within it's borders... just a thought, i love wonders that can oly be built in certain circumstances (why does a coastal city need a giant canal?)

I don't think so, I think they changed the trade route modifier code so it's going to break the file. I should be releasing a new version fairly soon though

I agree that it should give both free harbor and seaport- you'll likely be removing maintnance costs from one existing harbor, and giving a seaport for free right as you're really starting to want them. (remember how many large ships are built in panama because of this thing in the real world, so the ship production bonus makes a lot of sense, too!)
