Could I use the radio (and any code) to add a dance recreation? Either adding to this mod or separate?

I get a crash when I try this with B18. I'd really like to give my pawns a little joy with a friendly radio...

Note to anyone requesting an update to B18: So far as I know it works just fine.

It's a great mod, the colonists use them very often. Maybe the big radio should have more range for large barracks ?

@Thundercraft

I think the idea you had, a brief audio clip of radio tuning static when the joy item is first turned on to be used by a colonist, is great.

I second this motion.

You should add Music, but like, barley?
idk. You know that CoC (Call of Cthulhu) has a radio, and it's loud af. Could you do that same, but make it half the sound?

Doc Savage, 70 steel and 100 power may sound unbalanced but think about it, a tube television takes 100 steel and 8 components and 200 power, its actually pretty balanced in terms of game mechanics, materials vs reward

100 Watt???? :steamfacepalm: 3-5

70 steel and 100 power..? That's not a radio, that's a Buick. I understand balance, but balance this is not. Nor reality... Chances are we found the parts to make one of these in the wreckages and pods that keep falling from the sky. Great idea, but will definitely have to alter the XML to make it believable. A gold, a steel, a plasteel maybe. 3 or 4 small things, not enough steel to build 14 walls for sure.

I understand the reasoning for no music as the game already has that.

But what would be wrong with playing a brief radio tuning / static sound after a colonist first turns it on? From what I've read, if the sound effect is in WAV (instead of OGG), it will play only once (instead of loop). Freesound has a variety of radio static to choose from: https://www.freesound.org/search/?q=tune+radio

Mod is pretty good. One thing though is that some furniture blocks the area of music. One of my tables makes listening to music impossible because it's in the way of airwaves? Maybe make the 'zone' go through atleast statues/furniture and such?

Would it be possible to make a smaller/different version of this for carry? Meaning for caravans mostly. Joy is sometimes a problem on a long caravan route, maybe the only problem for some. If there was a small portable radio that could be in the inventory, or equipped, on a pawn to atleast stop joy degrading when it was equipped it would be great. Even if you didn't get +joy atleast it could mantain a +/- 0 joy when equipped. When returning to "home area", the normal radio would take over. Maybe an expensive type of radio 'with battery' but limited in joy. Actually thought about radios last evening for the caravans but will gladly try this one out either way. Good job and thank you!

If the radio get's a sound it should be quiet and only play when zoomed close to it and if a pawn is nearby listening. It should also play from a random selection of song. (The only thing current that's coming to mind is the Portal 2 radio) I'm not a modder so i have no idea if possible but it'd be a cool edition.

Agreed that AoE would be a great thing here. When I was a chef we used to have the radio going all the time, it really did help with mood!

Chakat, thanks for the ideas, they do have to go to the radio so good idea. and no problemo.

Aklso, thank you for no sound.

Does this work in an AOE or do they have to go to the radio to get the joy? If you want to do AOE, you could look into the joy items of a similar nature from the Call of Cathulu industrial stuff.
