Make it only provide 1 food, problem solved, because with lighthouse it'll make all coast tiles 3 food which isn't as broken

The thing is that it stacks with the lighthouse. So coastal/sea tiles will still end up being 4 food tiles (equivalent to a farm grassland) without the workers and time needed to build an improvement, which is handy for growth and outright broken with the extra production and gold yield. It's like petra - kinda meh if you're just in flat desert, but dangerously powerful if you start adding too many extra yields on. Even if you take off the production or the gold bonus, it'll still be a strong wonder - having both lets coastal capitals snowball incredibly easily.

+1 food on sea tiles is just a weaker and more expensive lighthouse though, hardly worth a wonder

Straight out broken, coastal petra with extra gold simply becomes absurd incredibly quickly. Was able to snag basically every wonder after civil service on immortal difficulty, against egypt. Balance it by removing the production and gold yields and you'll still have a strong wonder.

v2 released - Fix for incorect Flavour attribute causing issues with GEM
Pouakai  [author] 15 May, 2013 @ 3:02am
Whoops, thanks for the heads up. Should be able to fix that soon

Hello Pouakai, there is a bug in the flavors declaration: you did use FLAVOR_FOOD instead of FLAVOR_GROWTH. Besides of expected consequences, this causes a bug with CivUp + GEM's tool tips and prevents IGE to start when used with those ones.

Yeah, a lot of things are supposed to be done certain ways it seems. Not a fan of that so far. But that is off topic. I love this wonder, and Grand, and played with them a lot. I look forward to whatever you do, or do not do, with them.

The costs are supposed to be uniform for all wonders based on tech level - late game wonders are all 1250, for example.
hambil 29 Mar, 2013 @ 12:50pm
True, but most of those wonders add only one type of production, and cost more. I hand moded my two wonders in the game to have Nan give food only, and Grand give gold only, and I about doubled the cost of each. That seems to have helped balance things out a bit for me.

Of course not, I understand completely. Desert tiles get OP too when enough wonders are built there, especially Oases and Stone tiles. The Grand Canal will most likely be updated with the new expansion, given that trade is such a large feature of it, so at that point maybe Nan madol won't be as OP?

I am not trying to be disagreeable :) That is just not what I am seeing happen in game. The tile yeilds are increased, and any tile in range is workable, it doesn't have to have a sea resource. They get worked, and combined with Grand Canal it is amazingly powerful. I can post screen shots of city screens showing the sea tiles with assigned workers if you'd like?
Pouakai  [author] 29 Mar, 2013 @ 10:40am
Nah, the tile yield of everything is changed, but you only get the extra yields if you're working the tile
hambil 29 Mar, 2013 @ 10:39am
Then it's a bug? Because all tiles immediately get the bonus, worked or not. The net effect is that specialist drop their jobs and work the sea tiles as far as I can tell, causing a huge boost in, well, everything.
Pouakai  [author] 29 Mar, 2013 @ 10:24am
You only get the bonuses when you work the tile
hambil 29 Mar, 2013 @ 8:41am
After considerable play with this and many other wonders I believe it is over powered. Perhaps if the bonuses it gave where limited to worked tiles?

I've been to Nam Madol, its a fascinating place. Its great to see it here on Civ. Though I would make a note that the canals are the city is really just the ocean, Nam Madol is really just a city built from artifical islands on the reef.
