Interesting enough puzzle, but hiding the little platform you need to fling onto in the main area was lame, and I’m sure the current you would know why. The chamber’s challenging enough on its own without that part being enshrouded in darkness. Can’t help but wonder how long some people wandered around not knowing what to do when it was merely something their eyes never picked up on. Some people play this on really low contrast screens, after all.
Also, using a timed button to open a panel is seldom a good idea. Once it closes, if the player’s standing in the way they will become invariably trapped and have to reload the game.
Saw someone else mention this but I didn’t need the piston platform either.

I enjoyed the main puzzle well enough and I’ll still give it a thumbs up but the two above considerations are gonna significantly dampen my enjoyment score as I try to give a balance between personal preference and objective design quality with that rating.

Difficulty: 3.25/10
Enjoyed: 6.5/10

Good puzzle !
not too hard

@ubilada: The series does indeed get less timing based (and really just better overall) after this map! This was early days of map creation for me. Adjacency 5 is the best.

This map requires more ninja skills than brainstorming. I really liked your design and want to keep playing the next maps of adjecency series. I hope they don't require as much ninja skills as the first one. Otherwise, it can be frustrating at times after you know how to solve it, but the required skils to complete the map can be discouraging actually. Other than that, a good map.

Great map. More experienced at portal now so no problem at all with the timers. If you wanted to make the map harder get rid of the piston platform, it's not essential.

My only criticism is that each timer should be one second longer. Took me a half dozen tries to barely get it. Ugh!

Beat-the-clock puzzles aren't my favorites (especially if the clock is only a few seconds!) because I'm not very good at rapid-fire mouse gymnastics. Many people do enjoy the puzzles where the demands are more physical than mental. I'm glad there are plenty of both in the community.

Super satisfying. All the numbers add up at the final move.

There has got to be a way to redesign the map so you could make the timers easier to handle and still not have multiple solutions.
Asha Man 17 Dec, 2013 @ 10:21pm
Never looked at a walkthrough. Felt very satisfied after thinking of the solution. But COME ON MAN you could make the timers a little bit longer. Had to repostion the portals a few times so I didnt have to turn around, and even after that it took me a few tries. Other than timers a great map.

Found the timing about right to be honest. Good map.

I like it, but it *is* a little frustrating because of the timing. Oh well. I got the cube a different way: there are two horizonal portalable surfaces at different heights in that room. :-)

One tiny suggestion if you ever edit the level again: Maybe draw attention somehow to the fact that there's a portalable surface behind the opening door. I did CHJunior's way (push both buttons then book it towards the door, and it was still open after I passed through the fizzler and then I saw it was portalable), but I think that *possibly* I'd have seen the intended solution if I'd realized that just a sight line was enough. Possibly. :-)

@CHJunior: thanks for the feedback. It turned out to be rather hard to set times on the buttons that were long enough to work and short enough to avoid multiple solutions. The main point of the puzzle was connecting the two buttons, though , so congrats on doing that.
CHJunior 22 Mar, 2013 @ 5:27pm
I completed the map without having to use portals (as a shortcut to the exit) after pushing the two buttons (as seen in your walkthrough). I just walked to the exit. The solution in the video is much cooler.

cutting it a bit short... but man... one word... freakingfuckingawesome
Juggler  [author] 9 Jan, 2013 @ 2:47pm
@Elementalkin: Are you activating both timers at the same time? If you are, and still can't make it, that might be because you're trying to walk there. Walking is a rather slow way to get places when you have a portal gun. ;)
Juggler  [author] 5 Jan, 2013 @ 11:44pm
@Cego em Tiroteio: you're right, that's definitely a problem with this test chamber. I just tweaked the exit door area to hopefully make it a little easier. Thanks for playing!
Cego em Tiroteio 5 Jan, 2013 @ 3:52pm
Nice one, but the time window gives too little margin to error, which is quite frustrating once you lose a lot of progress if you don't make it into the door.

@Jay

Neat video! You actually found several shortcuts that I didn't anticipate; one to get the box, and then that portal step-stool trick at the end. I've updated the test chamber to prevent these, making it a bit harder. :) Thanks for your help.

If you like levels of this sort you might enjoy "Air Traffic."

I made a video if you want to see how a new player sees your map for the first time.

(And the green border around the picture simply means people are logged into steam.)

I look forward to seeing more of your maps in the future if they are anywhere near as good as this one.
esmo 23 Sep, 2012 @ 6:40am
good fun, don't see too many maps with this mechanic. cheers
Jay 23 Sep, 2012 @ 3:29am
Very clever!

This is one of the best maps I have played all week, and I've played around 400 maps this week.
