I liked the whole series but thought the ending should have been a little better.:steamhappy:

Could have searched for a fix, but hey...
Phillypop  [author] 15 Jul, 2016 @ 12:26pm
yeah sorry I never made part 4 I may crank something out one day that references this series, but the point to this one being short and having the lift at the end was to get you back to Aperture's test chambers so the space theme is pretty much gone at this point anyways so it wouldn't be a "Space Series" chamber. I did have a nice gigantic map made after this, a huge room that rotates and has puzzles on the floor, walls, and ceiling and you had to rotate the room to complete it, but every time I uploaded it and did a test play before setting it public, every prop and texture was missing and I couldnt figure out why, tried making another one from scratch, just a small empty room, and had the same problem with that, so I threw my hands up in the air and deleted everything including the editor.

Well if your not making part 4, then why did I play this :l
BoyCuddles 6 Aug, 2015 @ 6:54pm

Nice ending! Thanks!

fun level, a bit easier than the previous two but a nice design and a good reunion with our favourite sarcastic and evil AI
cajundoc 24 Mar, 2014 @ 10:44am
Are these kind of maps and rooms "special" for developers? The only ones I can make are standard chambers.
Twistie 2 Mar, 2014 @ 9:06pm
i got sor bored i played the maps 5 times each it neaver gets old i am wating on maps in uthere games from you cant wat to play your maps XD see ya

cosmo 3 Feb, 2014 @ 8:46am
too short
Phillypop  [author] 2 Feb, 2014 @ 1:25am
@mastershot64 Thanks :) I try to be good. I've actually given up making portal maps and have switched to making maps for Garrys Mod and Halflife 2 since theres so much more freedom there for textures and look, and outdoor maps like this don't really go well with the theme of the game, that and I've yet to find a way to make grass and chainlink fences not be able to hold a portal.
Twistie 31 Jan, 2014 @ 10:16pm
oh my god this is the coolest map i have played you sholed make a new seres for us to play XD
Phillypop  [author] 9 Nov, 2013 @ 9:29pm
As for making another in the series, I may start tinkering again in my free time, but it will likely not be directly in this series when I release something. I do have some ideas in mind, as well as some new "Testing elements" I've been working on.
Phillypop  [author] 9 Nov, 2013 @ 9:15pm
Ok so to answer a few things at one here.. the test chamber at the end was clearly incomplete, can kinda tell by the big missing wall... I just added random things to make it seem partially contructed. first version of the chamber had ballbot sittin in the observation room too but that caused a few glitches as he was technically too tall for the room. And mathew i cant see what blue texture you're talking about except maybe the background which is a valve-set environment from one of the stages of the game, and the catwalks are all valve-made model files, i have no control over what they look like, maybe you're having some graphics issues. as for the portalable laser walls topside, yeah laser walls are made with 2 wall objects, and i couldnt make them non-portalable theres just no parameter for it as they're supposed to be passive and i didnt want the player to be able to shoot a portal past it. I may go back later and replace it with a fence or stone wall or something.
Wet For Jesus 9 Nov, 2013 @ 7:36pm
i love it ive played all the episodes.cant wait till then ext one

make a part 4 or a new series.
John Simons 17 May, 2013 @ 11:55am
I loved this map Philly!
very nice
Mclovin 8 Apr, 2013 @ 3:57pm
Maybe next time you should put more work into a map before releasing it. The blue texture in the catwalk part looked pretty bad. Walls make things look more realistic! Also, the testchamber was much too easy. What was the light bridge for? It would have been better too make it so that if the player choses to destroy the turrets from the outside, the light bridge dissapears.

Great end to the series - love the environment. Wish the puzzle was longer but I enjoyed the series overall! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=na71mwO7OaM

Space Station 4: GLaDOS Return: The Part where She kils you (2.0 version)
Seriously, very good map. Keep it up, I love them!
DeMille3 11 Dec, 2012 @ 6:22pm
And GlaDos Returns. Seriously, nice map. The fan was one of my favorite parts.
exomo 23 Oct, 2012 @ 5:32am
Nice map.
Two things I think could be improved: The laser walls at the beginning can have portals on them. It's not a big deal, but I don't think you should be able to put portals on laser walls.
I had some problems to put the cube in place in the final room. The cube somehow gets stuck with the opening panels. It was a little annoying that I had to respawn the cube several times before I could open the door.
But I still like the map.

@brawler if you'd care to point out any glitches/bugs you found, please do, I do my best to weed out as many as I can but I sometimes miss stuff, also the source engine itself has some rather interesting limitations and glitches of its own that I sometimes forget about.
Snarplord XVI 21 Oct, 2012 @ 7:58am
Best. Map. EVER.
󠀡 20 Oct, 2012 @ 8:11pm
Cool but very glitchy/buggy.
Guus Garnaal 16 Oct, 2012 @ 12:47pm
Awesum! It was a bit short, but I think the next one will be just as awesome as the others!
Phillypop  [author] 12 Oct, 2012 @ 7:25pm
@Grimreaper yeah i've got a new revision i just havent had the time to compile yet, has some lighting tweaks, including fan area, and i cant seem to get that fog to go any darker as its using valve's fog controller from i believe the wheatley trap stage and i cant edit those without steam auto-repairing the files.. i'll try other stage's fogs and see if any look better. as for the skybox, yeah see, thats a tricky thing as you can only have 1 3d skybox per map, and this map technically uses 2 (above and below) to i had to do a little trick (which you'll notice as you drop down the shaft and look up), plus portal doesnt actually have any true bluesky-type skybox's and i try to stay clear of using custom textures in the PTI
I Kinda Fail 11 Oct, 2012 @ 1:55am
@Supreme Gamer: It was extremely straightforward after the fan. What are you on about? If you can figure out where to go in old Aperture from the campaign mode, you can figure out how to get past the fan. If the "catwalk" you're referring to is the one looking at the turrets, you DO go in that room. You just use the catwalk to take out the turrets.

@Philly: Good map. Not the best, but not the worst. The fan was kinda glitchy, as I had to try several times to shoot myself up, and it killed me once when I stood on it to see what would happen. :P I liked the rotating wall/vent thing.
Fish 10 Oct, 2012 @ 10:12pm
This is good. But. The first test chamber is waaaaayyyy too dark. I suggest using a proper skybox texture for the sky in the first room. I like the behaind the scenes part. It reminds me of my own serries. Although, I didnt really like the blue fog, Perhaps making it less blue? There are a few miner bugs in it that I didnt bother pointing out. But All-in-All this map is great.
DannyVFilms 10 Oct, 2012 @ 5:14am
I didn't get far enough to see an elevator or an exit door. I couldn't figure out why I was on a catwalk looking at a test, instead of in it.
Phillypop  [author] 10 Oct, 2012 @ 1:40am
Also thank you for pointing out that i wasnt giving hints where to go, made me realize i completely forgot to put light strips and such on the buttons in the chamber, and over the exit door.
Phillypop  [author] 10 Oct, 2012 @ 1:39am
@supreme gamer.. ok I'll admit the first one was really tough, but it was my first hammer map and i wasnt thinking about people's skill levels. I intend my maps to be explored fully, as a lot of people like to try looking for hidden areas. This map i got a lot of ideas from playing the halflife remake Black Mesa, i wanted to see if i could make some of the things in there, the big fan for example, is modeled after a scene where you turn on a giant fan and ride its airflow up to an open vent duct. I've been told i make my maps more like halflife maps then portal maps, which is why i ended this one with a elevator scene, to try and get back to the portal style, i'm sorry you have a hard time with my maps, maybe you'll like my future ones as they'll all start & end with the PTI elevators, i'll stick to test-chamber style
DannyVFilms 9 Oct, 2012 @ 5:46pm
This is the third map in the series right? It's also the third map in the series I hated. I still can't figure out how I solved the first 2 without noclip...oh yeah...I didn't. You give the player no idea at all where to go. I can't solve these.
HelixSpirals 7 Oct, 2012 @ 3:33pm
Wow i really enjoyed that i hope there will be another one.
Sealwheeler9 3 Oct, 2012 @ 11:38pm
thanks
Phillypop  [author] 3 Oct, 2012 @ 10:56pm
@vertwheeler9 Unfortunately, i dont have sound files to do anything else to follow that with glados's voice, that was a sound file I found in the actual portal sounds,i think its actually from the end of singleplayer mode but i've never heard it when i beat it, and there's nothing else even close to that in the files, but i will be making more maps to continue this, i already have plans for the next one, though it sont have anything to do with space so it wont be directly linked to this series.
Sealwheeler9 3 Oct, 2012 @ 9:16pm
is there going to be a 4th map of this. i want to know what GLaDOS meant by this will be the last time my name is mentioned
mferring1 3 Oct, 2012 @ 4:44pm
Super fun! Took me a second to find the hidden part to make it to the end. Started this one but now going back to 1 and 2. Great job!
Phillypop  [author] 3 Oct, 2012 @ 4:14pm
@Audiodef, just drop the cube centered on the cross in the middle of the glass panels, as squared up as you can get it, then go stand on the button and it'll drop into place and the cube will slowly auto-line up in the button to the point that the closing of the panels doesnt jam it and make it launch 20 feet in the air
Audiodef 3 Oct, 2012 @ 2:55pm
I read that tossing the cube into the square cube button was an alternative way to play this chamber, but I couldn't find any other way.
Phillypop  [author] 2 Oct, 2012 @ 4:07pm
lol cyron, i do the same thing, in the original valve-made maps i always took the hard way, then when watching random videos later on i see i did it totally the hard way and could have saved myself at least 5 minutes of playtime per level doin it the easy way lol
cyron43 2 Oct, 2012 @ 9:51am
LOL the easiest way didn't come to my mind. That's typical me. D'oh! *FacePalm* :-D
Phillypop  [author] 2 Oct, 2012 @ 6:04am
@cyron43 whatever way works for you is the right way, my original thought when making it was to toss the cube while standing on the button, but for the non-tossers you can just put the cube dead-center on the glass platforms then hit the button and it'll drop in. And its nice to see people found my map easy, considering how difficult some people foud that first map i made.
cyron43 2 Oct, 2012 @ 4:52am
Phew that was easier than I thought, which is a good thing. I don't like hard maps as they frustrate me. Anyway I don't know if I did the last part the supposed way. I stood on the round button and tossed the cube onto the cube button .
Phillypop  [author] 1 Oct, 2012 @ 1:39pm
@gm.house yeah its an alternative, i was wondering when someone was going to find it :) the little riser the turrets are on is actually a reversing panel.. after i built the catwalks i was thinking to myself "hmm, this long catwalk that goes to a deadend could use a little something.. ooh lets put a button that kills the turrets if you can hit it without getting shot" thanks for finding it.

@ms. belldandy There may very well be a 4th, though it may not be directly related to this series seeing as I've made the map end in a standard Aperture elevator, but there will be more maps, also, love the screen name :) Ah my goddess is one of my favorite anime's ever.
