Mod that nerfs the instant beam ray weapon on many capital ship

Tired of getting one or two shotted into game over screen by the orange death ray that some capital ships have. Not sure the name of the weapon but they have almost perfect tracking and can oneshot fighters. Any suggestions?

Bullets have an angle attribute that decreases the accuracy of weapons. Could play around with that. Would look funny, though, since the beam won't fire straight out of the barrel of the turret.

You could get the mod that reverts the Skunk into its X3 AP version with 300k hull, this will let you survive a whole lot more than before (Skunk hull is normally 100k.) This mod also enables an engineer working on the Skunk to repair the hull like a normal capital ship. I don't know the name of the mod at the moment but I'll go look for it.
