Report a translation problem
In gimp theres a tab that looks like this[puu.sh]
Clicking on the eye to the left of each layer will hide that color layer (hiding red makes things not red)
Clicking the bar itself will deselect editing of that color that means if blue not highlighted you will not change blue at all on the image.
Now what those layers do are explained on the guide site.
You can use red and blue also but only if you mean to have the gradient look more plastic or ect
