Modding unit properties.
Is there a way to introduce a new mechanic that would allow every unit to act (a bit) like a hero. What I mean by this is I thought of a mechanic that allows the player to accumulate skill points on units which reached gold+ medal and then spend those points (like with heroes) on various attribute level ups.
For example, 2 skill points per champion level. and you can spend 2 point for 1 physical dmg, maybe 10 skill points for something like first attack etc.
If any experienced modders see this, I would appreciate any form of help, guidance to what files I might want to look into, maybe how to start working on it, and most importantly; if it's even possible. No point trying to do something the modding engine won't allow for.

I highly doubt the modding engine would allow for this at all.

From my limited modding experience, i do not think this is possible. You could give units of a certain tier a fixed upgrade every time they reach a Gold+ rank but this would be potentially unbalancing. I'm currently playing my personal mod where all non-hero units get a fixed amount of HP per level plus Def/Res upgrades (All Tiers get the same HP progression).

Yeah, after some tinkering I found my original idea is undoable but there are work-around that could work, it's just they would take 10 years to code and would be really messy to edit or balance so I went with a modified idea I will release at some point to the workshop once I'm done :v

You can however create a spell which grants a unit the evolve ability.
Your custom evolve ability allows the unit to evolve into a version of itself with raised stats.

That's the closest you can get to hero units.
It would however clunk up spellbok immensly
