It's either the resource itself that's not flagged correctly, or the house's inventory that doesn't allow new stuff. Not sure why it would correct itself for a house when you add another though. That's just super weird.
What mods are you using, and do you know how old they are?
You can find it here[blackliquidsoftware.com] on the BlackLiquid site.
Without that compatibility mod, you're going to run into some issues where things can't be stored in the right place, or used by the correct buildings, because of some issues due to the new categories. It will "mostly" work, but not 100%, and the problems you'll get will be people looking confused, carrying stuff around beacuse they don't know where to put what.
Side note: adding this mod mid-game will not fix the issues you already have in your town unless you destroy the existing stuff and rebuild, but will make sure whatever you build after adding it will work correctly. So basically you'll be better off writing down your map seed and restarting your town.
MM8 is still in its phase of last checks before official release, so there are still bugs in it. There will probably be a RC4 version before it's out "for real". So if you find bugs in the MM8 mod though, we prefer seeing them on the website. I think I'm the only one checking this part of the Steam forums regularly, and I'm only a forum/community moderator / tester in the BL team, not a modder. :)
There's still some bugs in the current version, Kralyerg is tackling them as they get reported. Next version should have very few of them left.
