Shouldn't the workshop be closed now?
Considering that this is pretty much the end of the game and that all the safes are available as drops again, which kinda implies that they're done with the system as a whole, shouldn't the ability to submit a new workshop skin be forbidden? Is not like the game is going to get any extra community safes at this point and newcomers to the series might end up thinking that the staff will still pick skins for future safes.

IIRC OVERKILL considered adding new community skins as a possibility after support ends, with no exact certitude. I think I've heard that on an OVERKILL stream.

Apologies for not being around much. Had a hell of a time moving, only just got internet back.

So, i will be speaking with OVK to confirm the future of the workshop, the community skins, everything. Sorry for the radio silence up until now. But rest assured, your questions will be answered

Well it seems like there isn’t any news on that matter. Maybe they´re still too busy with that OTWD thing. Anyways for me personal it was a nice experience to make skins for PD2 but everything comes to an end I´ll guess (even it was a little unexpected). Cheers to all creators, collectors, visitors and workshop-mods!:2:

My guess is that they haven't made a decision yet. Otherwise they would have told you it's over by now.

Maybe they haven´t. But otherwise they´ve made their decision to bring back the old safes and to not release any community safe since 3 or 4 months. Under this uncertainty, not knowing if there ever be a new community safe, it´s reasonable to stop making skins for this game/workshop. That’s what I did (and because of other issues regarding this workshop) and some of the former quite active creators too.

Absolutely, there's no point putting work into it while there's no official word about its future. I don't blame you.

I wouldn't leave you guys in the dark. I will report back with whatever i can, when i can.
If i am unable to share any new information, i shall also let you guys know!

Massive apologies for the delays in getting back to yourselves, i know it's frustrating. I won't keep you in suspense much longer.

I know, Lammah. In the end we (collectors and creators) are in the same boat. OVK was on board too but it seems like they did go overboard undetected in the past months.

@AJ: No need to apologize yourself since it’s not your fault and you are NOT the one to blame! I mean the only ones who left everyone in the dark is OVK (and especially the ones who are in charge and not the ones who are preparing the skins etc. for the game). I mean it´s a simple thing: OVK should´ve said “yes” or “no”. If they didn’t make any money from safes in the past then it would have been a “no” and the workshop should´ve been closed since the end of this year`s Crimefest, like Red mentioned. But to be honest: In terms of the needs and possible improvements regarding the workshop this “behavior” by OVK is quite the standard. Last time a staff member was interested in the workshop was Joakim in his last AMA (2017?) if I remember correctly.

Thanks for looking after skin authors !

Side note, are there any Modders working toward a stable usable workshop skin mod ? It would be interesting to have something streamlined and stable to use. So skins author who are willing to share could do so easily.

BeardLib Weapon Skin module is a thing now, but no news from OVK.

Since the latest news regarding their financial problems hit the public I don’t think there will be any news soon regarding community safes. Now they have to do their biggest heist ever in real-life. And I don’t think that the revenue from market transactions is that high releasing new safes isn’t the solution right now for them. And who knows maybe other staff members left the team too? Perhaps they should release a payday 2.5 recycling the old pd2 assets and using the UE4 Engine :).

Or hire custom heist creators and create a new Payday game with those. $20 or $30 xD

Community safes don't take much work. One person picks the skins and make sure they work. Then a programmer adds them in and sets up the market items.
