That being said, personally I like both passenger and freight scenarios, so no preferences here. I also don't care much about the scenario lenght (well, maybe it shouldn't be a 5 minutes scenario...). The most important thing for me is, that a scenario should be 'belivable'/authentic. This doesn't necessarily mean you have to recreate real world timetables, but the scenario creator should have an basic impression of what rolling stock is normally seen on the route in question and how frequent trains normally run there.
Also, I think the best scenarios are made by creators who really like to drive their own scenarios. So my best advice would be creating the scenario you would like to drive and surely you will find other people who also do like to drive your scenario.
I'm very sorry for my late reply. That's why I wanted to reply as soon as possible to you. I think you are right about where i posted the thread as it would have made better sense of I'd posted it in the general discussion forums.
That's a good point about scenario time as a five minute would be way too short. Equally I've made some scenarios that are nearly an hour long & wonder if it's too long but I suppose it's depending on the context of the route. As a scenario I'm making on the Liverpool to Manchester DLC is roughly just over an hour long but since it's starting at Edge Hill & goes to Liverpool before going back out to Manchester it's just about ok as a longer scenario.
I try to keep things as real as possible when planning times although I need to work on improving things. Plus research into the correct types of train is important too.
I like what you said about making a scenario that you would like to drive & other's will surely want to drive it too.
I hope this makes sense as I'm typing on my kindle.
