Mod issue or other change? (MegaMod 8 Q)
Reinstalled Banished with MegaMod 8, have played with MM/CC before. I wanted to add an anti-aging mod because I always hated that aspect of the game - Mod is called "More stable populations." I only have this mod under the 3 properly ordered MM files.

I cannot for the life of me stock up on food. The cap is set at default of 5k or 10k which is what I usually change it to. I follow my usual build order of Gatherer, a single fisher (from the modular docks pack in MM), then maybe a fuel guy and eventually a hunter, forester, and so on. I barely get to "established" with all of the above plus the required Blacksmith and Tailor, and the food stocks are now careening downward. It might seem to level off at about 200, but it will dip down to like 70, and people will die...I've even had multideaths at that "level" 200 constant food.

Has something been changed in the game mechanics in the past year or two or could this be a bad interaction between the MM pack and the MSP mod? I was playing on very mild seasons, valleys or plains

MegaMod doesn't touch how much people will eat, or how long they will work, or anything like that. Some of the start options have less food than other though, or specific things in storage to encourage one type of food production.

Some of the houses in MM also have larger storage space, which means they could be taking more food from the town's supply than what you are used to. It should even out though as more food at home means they will not need to find food again too soon, but it does look "scary".

Dock-fishing thing might also bring in a tiny bit less fish than a regular one, to make up for how much "easier" it is to place it and its smaller radius. I don't really remember how that thing is balanced.

Check what the gatherer is getting. It's quite possible that it's picking up a bit of non-food stuff. IT shouldn't make a critical difference, unless you are super unlucky though.

The townhall statistics has the option to see the amount of stuff stored in houses (and trade posts), not just markets/barns. You could build one of the cheap tiny townhall-type buildings to see what's happening with your food.

I am not sure what the Stable Pop mod touches exactly, but I think it increases the child-bearing age, which might cause you a faster population increase than others, and possibly leads to food issues.

Basically, I don't think anything is going "wrong", but there are small changes here and there that might mean it'd be a good idea to only build 2-3 houses the first year instead of 4-5 (or mark one for destruction if you pick an easy start) to avoid draining the town supplies so much and control the birth of new mouths to feed a bit more tightly.
