a odd mod idea anyone know on how or if its even do able
is there a way to make a upgrade (maybe after the arcane item thing) to make a custom unit just is there any way to limit it so people don't make a unit with 100 prots or close to on a unit and i know this sounds silly but any way to make the unit not gain any prots from and spells or upgrade not made in the building and maybe to make some premade custom ones so the comp use it

Ehh, sorry, can't quite follow your question there.

So you want to create a custom unit INGAME or as a mod?

What do you mean by "not gain any prots"?
Protection from Damage YXZ?


You can definetly create custom untis with the ModEd, the computer sjould also be able to use them.

Sorry about the delay I forgot y about this when I say that I talk about I talk about u thinking of it to make costom unit like mabe some sort of bar that you can pick from race then use points to get buffs

Oh, ok.
I don't think that's quite possible, or rather it would not be all that feasible.
We can not create new UI elements or workable script menues via the ModEd.
You could create a LUAScript to work for a SINGLE map, but this does not really cover your query.

I guess you could use the spellbook, which could give any class of your choice access to a "unit menue" of sorts.

I.e., create a spell which allows you to summon a human pikeman with buff yxz
Give it a gold cost, give the summoned unit gold upkeep and but the spell into every classes' spelltree.

However, this method has some problems.
The spellbook can only contain so much possible spells to research, so creating a plethora of summon spells for just a single unit. and then doing so for all specified units, would seriously clutter up your researchable spells.


At the end of the day, the thing you're asking for is pretty much the main difference between Age of Wonders 3 and Age of Wonders Planetfall, which has a sort of inventory system for non-hero units.
