Helena Mod Resetting Inventory Bug?

I have a few of the Helena mods (Succubus, Valkyrie, Vampire, etc) and I went with the Valkyrie class. When I go to the NPC and get the shield bash ability it completely wipes and resets my inventory. Same with my friend when he interacts with the Succubus NPC.

Any fix to this or anyway of preventing it?

All that does is use the CharacterApplyPreset call so perhaps that call is wiping inventory in addition to wiping your character's equipped items. It does mention that you should drop your items or transfer them, though.
