Mod suggestion: tram and light rail tracks with lower speeds
One can find many mods in the workshop making light rail and trams faster than vanilla 60 km/h. However, there seems to be none that actually makes them slower so you can reduce speed for:
- not rushing with 60 through the streets, usually for them the limit is 50 either, slower if signed
- having them even crawl through pedestrian zones with 15 or so. And yes, that is common in some German cities including the one I grew up next to.
- defining the speed in curves and make them maintaining that lower speed for the 60 metres from that curve into the following station where it does not make sense to speed up just to brake harder for the stop

You can do this in the line managment screen. you can set a approriate cruise speed on a leg. you can use a waypoint ahead of the station, then set a new cruise speed for the leg to the station if you have the station selected.
if you try it between two waypoint, there seems to be a bug and it doesn't work. so for now on point has to be a station.

Meanwhile yes - when I wrote this request 2 years ago we could not set any speeds at all. Trains would run maximum permitted track speed, so you had to impose speed limits by track of a lower speed. With progress in game functionality the request indeed became meanwhile obsolete.

You might also have a look at the date of my original post, check when it was made and see what functionality was added since then. You will eventually find out that back then it was not possible to set a track speed limit. So yes, the request is obsolete meanwhile. Thank you for thread necro...
