Doubt that it can be modded in. You can currently make the same thing by having 2 platforms separated by a short piece of normal track where you can then put any crossovers and signals, then put the same type of buildings that are used on the platforms alongside the piece of normal track so that it can look like one platform.

Definitely not moddable at this time and may never be. David's solution is how to do it.

FWIW this used to be possible but was removed at some point

No, (very) old stations had by standard a crossover at each end, but that was not within the technical platform, between the "checkered flag" platform signals within the straight track part and therefore inside the turnouts for the crossovers.
