"You can only add files from the game's "media" folder"
I talked about this on the modding discussion, but I wanna post it here to so more eyes can see it.
I have a mod I want to upload but anytime I try to "Add file..." on the ModCreator, it gives me the warning "You can only add files from the game's "media" folder".
The files I changed are some files from the "interfacing", "sounds", and "data" folders. I have tried the game with the altered files, and everything runs perfectly with the altered sprites and sounds, it just refuses to let me upload them. I have verified the files, twice, and redid the sprite editor work several times. I even reinstalled the game, and it still gives me the same warning.
Please help me...

Okay I managed to post the mod (It's not letting me link it, so please just check my profile to find it) but it wasn't altering the game when people subscribed. I verified my files, and subscribed to it myself to see if it was actually adding it to the mods folder. It does add it to the mods folder, the game just doesn't alter the files it should when the mod is installed and checked in-game. I've restarted the game after checking the mod in-game too, and it still does not add the mod to the games files.

Are you sure you are downloading files that are located inside the game? I went into the mod folder, but there was a Program_Files folder inside. This means that you are not loading the mod from inside the game, but from a separate folder.

Should be:
mod_root - media
And you:
mod_root - Program Files (x86) - Steam - steamapps - common - Door Kickers - Action Squad - media

Just to be sure I'm not messing up along the way, you go to the games folders, alter the files you want from the folders, then upload those?

In this case
Steam > steamapps > common > DoorKickers - Action Squad > media

Then
media > sounds
media > interfaces
media > levels > data

THEN upload those?

Exactly. First send your mod to the game folder, replacing the game files. And only after that you start downloading the mod from inside the folder with the game in Steam. :Rubber_Duck:

When the mod is uploaded to the workshop, you need to verify the integrity of the game cache. And then check if the mod works or not.

Alright, thanks. I think that's what I originally did, but I can try it again, and pay more attention to see if anything is wrong during the process.

mod_root - Program Files (x86) - Steam - steamapps - common - Door Kickers - Action Squad - media

It is very strange. Do you have the game installed in Program Files (x86)? Try installing the game on a different drive (if possible). And update the mod again.

I do yes, and I can't install it on another drive. Maybe there's something wrong with the uploader? I guess now I just wait for one of the devs to respond.
Thank you for the help though, seriously.

My pleasure. Hope the problem gets resolved. In extreme cases, another person can upload the mod, but then you will not be the main author of the mod, but only a secondary one. :plastisad:

I tried to upload the files on another computer and it still was doing the same thing,
mod_root - Program Files (x86) - Steam - steamapps - common - Door Kickers - Action Squad - media

You should definitely ask the developers here. I've never had this error, so I can't offer any advice. :winter2019sadbulb:

If anyone could help, even a little bit, it would be greatly appreciated.
