Maps & Skin Ideas!
*insert generic advertisement voice here* Can't think of an idea for your next skin? Want to make a map but have no inspiration? Then roll up roll up for the super list of amazing map and skin ideas! #shamelessselfpromo

With workshop maps just around the corner, I decided to revamp an old post I made a while ago. Here are some ideas for skin makers and map makers. Some ideas are better than others, some don't look like they'll be added at all, but I know there are some very talented skin and map makers out there (Shiranui, Turtl3man, Kordak etc.) so if anyone wanted a try at creating one of the maps or, thought a skin would look quite good that would be awesome. If any devs reading this think a map idea would be nice and could serve some lore for the game, that would be awesome as well!

MAPS

NUMBER 1:
BREAKOUT
This is the map from the breakout trailer. The dinos spawn behind the door where the dinos escape in the trailer. Behind the door where the dinos spawn is a singular large lab room which looks pretty much the same as the one in the PC:G trailer. Back out the door again, there is the long corridoor leading outside, and another to your (the dino's) left. It is seen in the trailer when the camera zooms in on the door, to the right there is a corridoor. The corridoor doesn't go very far but has some hiding places and a dead parasaur/iguanadon for dinos to heal at, and a health and ammo box. Outside it is the same design as the traditional Pheonix outpost (seen in forgotten outpost, contingency e.c.t.). Out of there there is a jungle/wood that slopes downhill. This includes the area where the humans are in the trailer. You can tell this as when the acro comes in the trailer, look at the top and there is the outside of the place where the dinos escape (but it could be another outpost but in this map its the lab). The humans could spawn at a large jeep maybe. There are carcasses and shacks with health and ammo dotted around the map. Mid-way down the hill, a small road goes across the map through a gate on the high rocks on the left, and into the inaccessable dense pine forest on the right. At the bottom of the hill, there is a small river with a rocky wall on the other side (basically to save time for any map makers that don't want to make a whole background).

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/321360/discussions/0/530645446313513890/ <--- Possibly this instead? The dinos could start inside an extended section of the lab and finish outside the outpost base where all they have to do after that is run down to the river.

NUMBER 2:
ATRIUM B (Non-canon version, we can see the actual Atrium B from TheFalls and it's a lot smaller than this)
Okay, so we are a VERY long way away from aquatic creatures, it probably will never happen, but we could still have an aquatic map. The outside area where the humans spawn could look like a small Pheonix outpost, then a door to the atrium. It is about the same size as Atrium C. There is a building the same as the contingency safe area (the "main complex"). Where there is the front door outside in contingency, there is a door to a long, big glass tube (like the ones in aquariums but big enough to just fit a tyrant.) which leads to the centre of the atrium, where there is a huge tall spire of rock which goes to the top of the atrium with some land at the top. Where the tube meets there, it goes straight up and has a lift. Just over halfway up the rock where the lift ends, there is a small dome room (like gate hydraulics place in The Falls) and a door leading out into the water. If you stay in the water for more than 20 seconds as a human you lose health quickly. It is 30 seconds for fliers, 30 seconds for spitters, 35 seconds for predators, 50 seconds for bruisers, 1minute for rexes and acros, then a whole 3 minutes for spinos! (Water and drowning is optional, you don't have to include this in the map as it would be extremely difficult to do.) There are 4-5 other smaller spires of rock in the atrium, each has a domed air room at the top, with lifts going down to glass tubes leading to the main tube. There could be a big liopleurodon carcass on the floor (maybe it ate the kaprasuchuses then ran out of food).
There is a button in the main building that closes the doors to the glass tubes so the building is safe, then the glass tubes flood. You have to get inside or go to an air room to escape drowning. You can go to the outside area at any time. The CTE version of this map has the drop-off point outside the Atrium with eggs in the "main complex" building.

NUMBER 3:
INTERIOR VISITOR CENTRE
This map is-strangely enough-the inside of the visitor centre in the survival map! It is mainly corridoors and small rooms, but there is on huge room similar to that of the JP visitor centre (but not too similar otherwise copyright will come into play). There is an information room with a map of the island and diferent dinosaur information for every confirmed dino in the game (playable, NPC and mentioned). Another room is a security office with working security cameras. There are various other rooms with different interiors or just guest rooms. There are two areas in the map where there are nests from where dinos have moved in, making the map playable for CTE. There is a dino health area in the main room and there are ammo and health boxes around the map. Tyrants and pteras will have a hard time on this map! To prevent this, some parts of the bulding have collapsed allowing for more open gameplay.

NUMBER 4:
LABS
This map is partly underground, partly overground. There is an underground lab, then the other half has an open top and has small pens for mainly baby or test dinos (think Poet Plays' minecraft dino series with his petting zoo thing). It was one of the first labs Pheonix made as it is fairly small (about the size of Forgotten Outpost) and the testing facilities aren't very big. The lab half (or less) of the map is similar to the computer rooms around the maps, except for the fact it has quite a low roof and is underground. The bigger part of the map is at the same level but with an open roof. There are very small (roughly 5-10 square metre) pens with fences that have big holes in them where the dinos have escaped. There is a dino carcass in two of the pens and one in the lab, same with the health and ammo points for humans. The whole outside area looks like a large petting zoo.

NUMBER 5:
CHASM/CANYON RUN
This map IS NOT the same map as Forest Chasm, it is further down the river where it is just a shallow stream. There are still the tall cliffs on either side, but the bottom is wider (if you found that wrong then I don't know what goes on in your head) with a lot of land on either side. Along the way, there are small buildings where you have to get supplies, part, fuel e.c.t. Tyrants are allowed once the first objective has been captured (not just at the end) and gives the feeling that your being chased (which is the idea of the map). The tyrants cannot get into the small buildings so they act as a resting point to recover so you only have to deal with raptors, spitters and carnos (I dought fliers will want to go in those small buildings). At the end of the canyon, there is the chopper pad. On the sides of the cliffs there are small hollowed out areas where the fliers spawn. The smaller dinos spawn in the buildings and the tyrants spawn where the humans spawn and then spawn further up the canyon in caves as the human team progresses.
Human victory cutscene: A pack of three dilos roar as the chopper flies off.
Dinosaur victory cutscene: A dilo sprints past and bites the pilot, as the chopper starts to fly off, the pilot loses control (as he is poisoned) and the chopper crashes into the side of the canyon.

NUMBER 6:
JUNGLE MISTS (or) HEART OF THE JUNGLE
Okay, so I know that's the name of a level in Dino Hunter Deadly Shores, (#notadvert) but I still think a jungle map would be cool. It is in the middle of the island (but that's irrelavent) and is deep thick jungle, with a clearing with a small camp in the middle of the map. In the camp there are tents, a few fires and a makeshift heli pad. There are paths around the jungle for the tyrants. On the outskirts of the map there is a small cave entrance. The cave leads inside to the middle of the map (underneath the campsite), where there is a large cave with a big pool. On the other side of the pool, there is a path leading upwards to the camp, so dinos or humans could use this to ambush players attempting to camp in the campsite (bad pun). There is a treehouse in the jungle (like the "High Hide" in JP 2) which can be a great spot for scientists. A small stream starts at the top end of the map and goes through the jungle and into the cave entrance in the south. The map is very big and the large areas of dense undergrowth can be a danger for dinosaurs and humans alike. For CTE the human drop-off point is at the heli-pad and the eggs are in a cricle around the camp. the cave is blocked off via a rockfall.

NUMBER 7:
THE BOAT (no better name as of yet) Thanks to PB.GENAlbinoRaven for this one!
A giant cargo boat, like the one JP Lost World. The boat constantly rocks making it hard to be accurate with guns or spit. Below deck there are many corridoors that only humans, raptors, dilos and carnos can fit in. There are many rooms, including a briefing/information room (like the one in Interior Visitor Centre), many cabins, a boiler/engine room which is inaccessable, a kitchen and many more. Above deck there is the captain room and of course the big doors which hold the Rex in JP Lost World. Only this isn't The Lost World so they are open but inside it looks very similar. The boat is actually bigger than the movie boat and has a bigger deck with big and small cargo crates and a heli pad. Not much else to say for this one.

NUMBER 8:
HUGE MEGA FREE ROAM/SURVIVAL ESC. MAP (the most unlikely thing on this list)
Thanks again to PB.GENAlbinoRaven for this. In his/her own words:
A truly large survival map. And I don't mean survival like what is actually in the game I mean something similar to h1z1 or gta where you actually have to try to survive regardless of what team you are on with va riots points on the map lIke towns, forests, mI litany basea and so on. Perhaps this would be a whole new game mode, but I could see this being unrealistic.

So what i'm guessing Raven means is that there is a huge map where it is a free for all or like GTA V or something. Actually, his/her idea ties in with my partially formed map of the island. I call tell with some but not all maps where they are on the island. For example, docks is next to the falls is you study the map. And contingency, marsh, gttc downpour, forest chasm are also all nearbye each other. Back to the idea anyway. You can roam around and team up as humans, or form a pack and hunt other dinos or humans as a dinosaur. In abandoned outposts there could be ammo and health areas, throughout forests there could be dino carcasses. I can imagine a pack of novas hunting a dilo, or a T Rex and Spino fighting over a meal, two carnos headbutt each other, a team of humans fight another human group in an outpost but they're interrupted by a flock of pteranodons. The possibilitys are endless, a really amazing idea from AlbinoRaven! If you think it's too much and is like adding a whole new game, take a look at hunt mode and survival mode. There are like separate games by them selves. Hunt is like evolve with dinosaurs and Survival is like Orion:Dino Horde

NUMBER 9:
RUTHLESS PEAK
A fairly small/average sized mountainous map. It's where Ruthless is but higher up. At the top you can see out across a vast landscape, including the Ruthless map with the river. In the river you can see the Brachiosauruses, Parasaurolophuses and Stegosaurus as you can in Ruthless. However, there is a whole herd of each one and they all arive at the same time. An extra touch, Pteranodons and Tupas fly up and down the river, as well as Speceimin Alpha every now and again (yes I know he lives in Contingency and Marsh area, but today he's on a day out). In the map itself, there is a very steep area sloping down at the top of the map (facing away from the river side). The view from there is a few more mountains. In the centre of the map is a spring. The water from there leads down the south of the map (Ruthless side). There are a few pine trees in various areas. Most of the map is rocky ground, but there are some grassy patches. There are two buildings, one small and one high enough to fit a Tyrant, a tower and a heli pad in the centre of the map. This a very scenic, picturesque map, great for Free Roam.

NUMBER 10:
TWIN SPIRES
This map is on a large cliff. The accesable areas are the thin beach under the cliff, the large boat and the twin spires. Let's start with the beach. The beach is small and thin. There is not really much on the beach but it can be used to ambush or lay traps. On the shore line there is a small boat, only just able to fit a tyrant. The small boat uses the same mechanics as the lifts used to in Contingency except it moves horizontally. The "lift" goes past the twin spires and onto the boat. The boat is the size of the docks boat except the are old turrets, ammo crates and other dismantled military equipment on board instead of crates. It is very hard to access the twin spires themselves unless you are a flier. There is a thin rocky path curling up the bigger of the two. This is a great spot for snipers or spitters, but a ptera could come and pick you up if you're not carefull.

FORBIDDEN ROAD (Name from Ameoba_lord)
Thanks to Turtl3Man for inspiration.
Inspiration-->"A narrow path with lots of trees like that scene in Jurassic World" (the one where Owen is riding on the motorbike with the raptors)
This map would feature a path that a Tyrant could just fit in going through the middle of the map. On either side there is a forest with densly packed trees that provide great cover for ambushes. The forest features a small shack with health and ammo, a spring with a small clearing around, a small cave/lair type thing and a broken down jeep. At one end of the path, (human side) there is a small base like the ones in forgotten outpost and at the other end (dino side) there is a clearing with some fallen trees. This map would be very good for survival and capture the egg. (At time of writing I thought CTE when added would function like the original Primal's CTE)

NUMBER 12:
OUTPOST 45 2
This map doesn't need as much explaining as the others, as it is the map used in the alpha version of the original PC (just watch the alpha gameplay videos 1-3 on YouTube, also, you can shrink the map slightly if you want as that map was HUGE). Basically, in the centre of the map is the area from Utility Base, except the inside is a lab instead. There is a Rex in one of those birthing tube thingies and broken computers and tech around the edge. In the south & south west of the map is a rocky outcrop area with yellow-brown coloured cliffs and little trees, then at the west is a gate with a path to the base surrounded by thick jungle with the odd boulder to climb on top of the path also has a broken bridge that goes over the river, which travels alongsige a slope to the plains in the north. In the north of the map the jungle fades out into the open grass area which continues to the east of the map with the river. The edge of the map here is an electric fence with a view to an open plain and mountains. The south east of the map is where the grass merges with more jungle an the rocky area. Outside of the map you can see Brachiosaurs, Parasaurs and Stegosaurs roaming the large grasslands, with mountains in the distance.

NUMBER 13:
SHADOW BAY:
Shadow Bay takes place at night at the bottom of a large cliff of a bay. The bay is semi-circular and has basically no natural flat land (apart from above the top of the cliffs which you can't see anyway). The map is divided into three parts: two small (approx. 50-100m each) stone docks, one of which possesing a building that resemble the command part of a ship and one containing lots of cargo crates. The third part is a cargo ship the same as the one in Docks. The first mini-dock with the tower is in the middle of the bottom of the cliff. It features the tower and several other buildings. A partially collapsed stone jetty sticks out into the sea. The second mini-dock is to the right of the first one (if you're looking at the bay from the sea). This one has a lot of cargo crates and boxes. There is a small loading crane that has been destroyed, forming a bridge between it and the cargo ship. The cargo ship itself only has a few cargo crates but some boxes have been stacked up where the crew made their last stand against the dinosaurs. The first and second mini-docks used to be connected but now there is a gap only oviraptors can jump across. However, there is a tunnel big enough to fit a tyrant dug into the cliff instead. It is dimly lit and has boxes and various equipment littered around the place. The first mini-dock and boat are not connected however, so players must use the second mini-dock to travel between the two places or risk jumping across. Each three locations offer vantage points for humans so you won't get gameplay focused in one area. The water is insta-kill like in Docks. Since most of the left half of shadow bay is unaccesible and relatively plain there is a second cargo ship that has crashed into the cliff to add scenery to the map. The Capture the Egg version of this map has the drop-off point on the boat and the eggs on mini-dock 2 and some in the tunnel. Sorry if this description was a bit difficult to understand as I dreamt this map (yes I'm that sad that I dream about dinosaur games) so some parts of the dream map didn't make logical sense so I had to change them.

MASKED NOVA:
A light grey bodied nova witha green stripe going down it's back and a stripy tail. On it's face there is a dark green blotchy patch shaped like a skull or general grevious' mask (or something else like that) with black around the eyes. The eyes are yellow and the teeth are bright white.

RED LONGHORN CARNO:
It would look like the carnos from the disney film Dinosaur. Red body, grey spikes and horns, yellow-grey underside.

NOVEL DILO (someone think of a better name please)
This dilo strongly resembles the dilo from the book version of Jurassic Park. The body is yellow with black spots like a cheetah's. The crest is red with black stripes and the teeth are black (I think). The belly is a light green colour and the claws are black or grey.

HUNTER and HUNTRESS DILO
A set of skins that are made for being camoflauged and scary at the same time. The Hunter Dilo is light green with dark green crocodillian type markings on it's back, and a light underside. The top of the head is very dark green, with orange eyes and a red crest. There are black quills on the back of the head and neck. The Huntress Dilo has a green back, light green side and pale yellow underside. Five elegant black stripes go from the tip of the nose, along the back and stop at the base of the tail. The tail has black rings going down to the tip. On the side of the body are black spots like a cheetah's. The head has small, random swirly markings under the jaw, and a yellow cirlce around the black eye. The crests are orange with mottled black markings.

I will keep editing this and post more ideas when I think of them, feel free to post any more ideas in the comments and I'll use it and mention you up here ^!

P.S. If you're wondering where the other half of this post went, I moved it to the class ideas subforum here https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/321360/discussions/2/360670708792696782/

ATRIUM B
Okay, so we are a VERY long way away from aquatic creatures, it might nerver happen, but we could still have an aquatic map. The outside area where the humans sapwn could look like a small Pheonix outpost, then a door to the atrium. It is about the same size as Actrium C. There are 4-5 other smaller spires of rock in the atrium, each has a domed air room at the top, with lifts going down to glass tubes leading to the main tube. There could be one NPC liopleurodon that one hits anything and five kaprosuchuses at the top land part (they are the only confirmed creatures in atrium b) but as I said we will probrobly never get aquatic creatures, so instead there could be a bouldered up hole were the creatures escaped, or a big liopleurodon carcass on the floor (maybe it ate the kaparasuchuses then ran out of food).
There is a button in the main building that closes the doors to the glass tubes so the building is safe, then the glass tubes flood. You have to get inside or go to an air room to escape drowning. You can go to the outside area at any time. No idea for where the dinos spawn.

I would love to see....

city or town map. Obviously it would probably favor humans a bit more as I can't see tyrants getting into smaller normal buildings but I think it would be fun. I really like verdant because of the closed in spaces, it provides really intense gsmeplay, but a town on a map that was about the size of marsh would be really cool.

A really dense forest of some sort. Yes it would favor the smaller dinosaur but I could see tyrants having a bit more difficulty with trees that were closer together and with the implimentation of some clothes that actually camouflage better for humans would balance this out a bit I feel.

A boat. Similar to the boat you see in jurassic park lost world with the rex. A boat in the middle of the ocan that rocks with waves causing a new unsettling type of game play that would make it harder for all involved. On the boat there would be things like the helm, kitchen, living courters, engine room and so on the humans and small dinosaur could get in with a cargo area that tyrants could get in. All classes would obviously have acess to the deck.

City or town map would be a great and really cool idea, but from what I've heard the dinos never have escaped the island. Still, I'd love to see a map like that though.
Number 6 is a bit like what you described for the dense forest.
The boat is a great idea and I may include that in the post. What you described seems like a great idea.
The survival map sounds amazing. I'll definately include this as well. I've always wanted a sort of 14 teamed (each type of dino and humans) or just a free for all where some people team up.
I will post your boat idea and your survival idea for sure. Thank you so much for the ideas.

Well we go 1 map with cu1 with a handfull of maps currently in some stage of creation. TDM Downpour is technically already ingame but its not really ready for any serious gameplay yet. So I would expect that one to be officially added into the game for cu2 with Geothermal for cu3 hopefully.

Then Oasis for Cu4 or with geothermal in Cu3, but then what? That's why I made this list. And you don't have to have one map per update. Each update has a main feature, Cu1 was the survival update (and acro), Cu2 will possibly be the Gamemode update as it has two new gamemodes. Mabye there will be a content update called the Map Update and will bring in 4 or 5 new maps.

Like I said they already have maps beyond that planned. A new even bigger FR/RP map being 1 of them as well as a new survival map.
