Hi,
the word "town" is a bit worrying... Maybe you intend a small group of buildings...
No unfortunetly not axios
I might put the whole thing off until devs decide to raise that limit or add an option to remove it completely. Shame
Every editor has limits... Every graphic engine has constraints... It's not a city simulator. It's not Devs' responsability if you imagined that a town was doable. So, shame for what?
I know what the game is and what it isn't, what i don't know is the full limitations. I like to go overboard with my designs and so it kinda tests these kind of games. It kinda sounds to me like you just don't like the idea of a giant map.
And if you really need the explanation for why I think it's a shame you can't build a town due to the limit, or well you can but it gets harder once you reach the cap, just imagine the possibilities of creating a full town where you have to fight your way through, searching building to building for a safe passage while trying to achieve your goal not knowing if the building you're about to enter might be the best choice or it'd be better for you to chance it going through an open area. The stress of slowly moving through the town fully knowing there are no do-overs without extreme time penalty here and every mistake can end with you loosing half your squad. Did you pick the right house or are you gonna get swarmed once you enter? Should i peek around that corner? What if there's am ambush just around it? Imagine someone replicating the settings from real life, like eastwindops Z gave examples to. I know there's supposed to be a game about Fajullah, which if all information about it is correct will be an experience and a half.
A wall of text and the point is the same. You dreams about "Town Kickers". If the game will support giant maps, you don't think that Devs already made it?
Game engine has its limits because the game is designed for simulate villas, industrial buildings, some blocks of apartaments, not a town.
Go over the limits? Game crash. End of the story. Ideas will not change it. Like it or not.
Still not understanding what you read in Store page that brought you to fantasize about a town...
The current max limit is 6000, but additional entities get created while playing (destruction, blood splats, even the path waypoints). So the 600 difference is a buffer to allow the normal gameplay to flow.
I’m sure you can optimize them to avoid having so many. For example try scaling up decor elements like plants, to fill more space, instead of using many small objects.
This should maybe be a guide. I’ve seen maps that look very detailed while keeping the entity number far from the max. But I’ve also seen 32x32 maps go over the limit by having the same small decal placed hundreds of times in the same place (which also breaks performance).
