See info on changing the color settings here: https://ron.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=ct&f=10,5853,,30

Note that the exact paths are slightly different these days (the original post is over 10 years old), but you can get the gist of what's required. Just use updated paths and the rest of the info is still the same.

I went to data and altered the colors of Unit but it's still red. Do I have to change all of it? I altered it in Notepad if you are wondering.

As you might expect based on what it's called, changing the color of the units section only changes the color of units. Example: hot pink units in CtW campaign: https://i.imgur.com/xQYFrGP.png

If you want things other than units to also change color, you need to change the other sections in that file as well.

If you just want to use one of the existing color sets, the easiest would probably be to swap that color set's team number with team0 (which is red by default).

By replacing the color values?

Yes.

Do you have a screenshot of what it looks like? As a reference? I tried it earlier and realised nothing is working. Unless I have to start a new game.

Example, with modified lines marked with green line on left side: https://i.imgur.com/aVfAGnN.png

The change affects RoN globally. You do not need to start a new campaign to make it work, although glancing at the values it looks like the colors of some other teams may also change when using alternate colors (as we are here).

Ah cool thanks, that's exactly what I did and changed the figures but it was still red earlier. Perhaps I did something wrong?

There isn't enough information supplied to point to the exact cause.

Possible issues which may or may not apply:
- you didn't save the file(s)
- you modified the alternatecolors file but didn't enable the alternate colors option
- you modified the files while the game was open
- you used old paths for 2003/2004 RoN instead of EE

Theres a color blind mode in the option menu, if you turn it on, you will play as blue against red.
