Barotrauma Workshop
You can build your own submarines and monsters with in-game editors and share your creations with other players. Imagine and experiment.

This is not healthy. Part 2

Honestly, I'm having a hard time keeping up.
I can see the finalization of this submarine, but I've hit a ceiling. And a big one.
An endless flow of countless simulations in my mind about what to change, improve, implement, optimize, and so on...
To the point that this project has been almost stagnant for the past two weeks despite actively working on it.

The three last big steps consist of:
- Two major work around and rework of:
- An advance steering system which will allow you under "certain conditions" to bypass navigation terminal limitations in term of efficient maneuvers, and all features related to this.
- A system to send the pseudo AI's messages in in more organised way, including interval between messages, content merge, reminders, and much more.

- Then comes a whole new gameplay mechanic, some kind of light dynamic puzzle to complement the pseudo AI. A game of "Manual Load Balancing":
- "Stress Factors" (Active Alerts) aboard the sub will be counted as pending requests meant for "pseudo servers" to handle. Then the player would need to connect with a wire from a junction box that represent the pending requests to another junction box that will represent and simulate different servers CPU and memory.
Then the player would need to click a button to send a request to that server.
Each request will require more or less CPU and memory usage, and the objective is to handle pending requests without overloading severs.
"Stress Factors" will produce pending requests that will determine the "Workload Stress" value up to 100% periodically.
And the AI will glitch/dysfunction based on that "Workload Stress" value which will represent its actual Stress.

Well that's the gist of it.
You guessed it, this is not healthy.

I think maybe your next step is to realise this using real physical electronics, possibly using microcontrollers and also regular components. Just rationalise the wiring aspect of it please, it shouldn't be a sweaty mass of wires! Who knows, maybe google will buy it off you for $$$!

I do agree that if I were to ever build another submarine then I'll start by cleanly display wires, 'cause I'm not cleaning up whatever this wire atrocity became.
