Make Tyranids great again !
The idea for this mod is to give more viable builds to the Tyranid by giving more specificity to some units and making them better in the late game, but not just by buffing late game units.

To use the mod make a save of your original folder "World", then unzip the mod folder and put the resulting "World" folder in the place of the original.

link for the mod: go on mediafire and add /file/fp3m15lpvkq9aip/World.zip/file

Changes:

-Tyranid warriors have a bit of armor piercing and a bit less strengh. It should make them a bit more versatile. They are back in tier 1.

-Gargoyls are now a flying unit. They are back in tier 2 and cost more (in biomass and production)

-Biovore have more armor piercing and their spore mine too, so they are better against armored infantry. However they are less resilient and have an higher upkeep (to "prevent" spam).

-Haruspex have +33% HP and a bit more armor.

-Exocrine are now deadly against infantry and armored infantry, but less effective against vehicules.

-Raveners have a bit of armor piercing and a bit less strengh. It should make them a bit more versatile.

-Lictors cost 25% more biomass and have less HP, but they are a bit more resilent against ranged fire in forest and have -50% to their upkeep.

-Small changes to the research tree, because I buffed the two researchs with upkeep reduction (-50% upkeep for each of them)

Explanations for the changes:

-Tyranid warriors, Biovore, Raveners were good in a few matchup (ork, AM with infantry) and realy bad in any other. With the changes they should be usable in more situations.

-Gargoyls were strange, because you never needed them. Now they are a great answer to units with few/without ranged weapons.

-Haruspex was just terrible, now it should be better to do the tank job.

-Exocrine was strange too, an expansive upgrade to the Carniflex with more range but less damage... Now it has a job: destroying heavy infantry.

-Lictors were the ultimate line infantry for Tyranids, now they should be more of an ambush unit which can wait for a target (you pay more for them, but their upkeep is low for their quality) or a flanker which will use forest to be well protected against enemy fire.

-And finally, the tech changes. The -50% upkeep on infantry and monstrous creatures should be an instresting buff to the Tyranids. It wont realy help them most of the time (a bit more biomatter won't change a game), but if you let them be they will be able to build a BIG army which could be realy hard to stop, just like in the stories ! But it's in theroy, I didn't had the time to make games so long with the mod to test it...

I didn't had the time to make long test for the balance of each unit I changed at the moment, so if you test the mod I would gladly use your sugestions !

I have no idea about anything balance wise in Gladius so I won't comment on that, but you do not need to overwrite the Data folder in the game's installation. You can place a folder with your mod's name in My Documents/Proxy Studios/Gladius/Mods and your mod's Data directory goes inside there. Any files in there will overwrite files in game. Check an existing mod, like my own, if in doubt.

Thank you for the info ! I created this mod by exploring the folders, I wasn't aware there is things in place for them ! I will make a real "mod" when I will have some time.

hi, can i check if tyranids are actually included in the beta build in steam?

i am using this one because my gfx card is old:
"legacy - 1.2.6 Tyranids (OpenGL 4.0)"

but when i try to select them as a race, i get a "dlc not installed" message?

You have actually bought the overpriced Tyranid DLC havn't you?
That last OpenGL version simply supports the Nid DLC, it doesn't give it to you.
