And as for the whole bugging out part, that honestly doesn't surprise me. The main problem with this game's combat is the fact it takes SO much time & effort to replace destroyed ships, even if one has a decent 3D printer setup built. Within the last couple of years, Keen apparently made a change to the block welders that caused them to not be able to build whatever number of blocks 'deep' like they used to be able to. This ofc, requires the use of mods like Nanobot Build and Repair System, or just a MUCH great time & effort investment if they are unwilling/unable to used said mods.
Yeah, unfortunately, if the developer even bothers to list weapon stats, they're usually way above the specs for the vanilla weapons.
I'm actually not too bothered by people bugging out once their shields drop, since a fight where someone's so willing to flee the moment their paintwork gets scratched isn't really that meaningful of a fight anyway. It just means that you can keep going to wherever your objective is. I mainly brought it up because it's a common argument against shields.
To be honest, I'm actually doing research and asking for someone over on Reddit who AFAIK isn't active here.
You can adjust most* weaponcore weapons via their ServerConfig (It works for singleplayer too) allowing you to solve some of the more extreme problems reducing the time in trying to find a matching balance between sets.
ShieldDamage Modifier is one such available line.
