Drop pod question
I don't suppose anyone know's if there's a way of having a tip of a drop pod land in the ground without destroying it or any other part of the pod. preferably without cratering the terrain too.

Example: Helldivers have a tip that lands in the ground and stops at the exact point it needs to, nothing is damaged and terrain around it untouched.

Is it possible to be able to mod something like that?

Getting it to land cleanly on rough terrain takes some prep on the descent but it's definitely doable. You do have to level any real slopes, it's a drop pod, not a combat assault vehicle.

Hi, yes it is possible to land without crashing, keep in mind it adds different starts depending on where we land and sometimes it's a crash start.

We can take control of where we want to spawn :
(it should be in the video Tutos in-game F1)

Hit F5 when falling with the DropPod on Earth for example, that will reload the world with the same DropPod and land at another area, redo till you land at a Rich ore spot or Easy Biome.

A lot of the ice lake on Earth are Rich ore spots of that Planet.
-> The Desert where there is a ice lake is the best place to build your first respawn station, it is the Easy Biome of the Earth planet.

Do the following if the F5 Respawn at another area is not working, happens when playing with auto-respawn enabled and/or auto-save :

1 - Turn Off the Survival Kit on your Drop Pod / Respawnship.
(so you will not auto-respawn there)

2 - Hit the Backspace key to kill your character and open the respawn window.

3 - Select the same respawn ship to respawn at another area.

4 - Redo the above till you land at a ice lake, snowy Pole or at the Easy Biome of the planet.

Info +

keep in mind the following :

Rich ore spots = Where all ores can be found close to each other, some areas have all ores within 1 Km.

Easy Biome = Where the Ore Detector block is not needed because we can see the ore spots with the naked eye on the soil and no "Bad weather" so no lightning.

Medium Biome = Green grass Biomes because it is harder to see the ore spots on the soil and those have lightning that can damage your creations where you will have to build lightning Rods and Safe Zone (station shield).

Hard Biome = Where there are more lightnings with bad weather and where the large block Ore Detector is needed.

It can take time to land at the Earth Easy Biome and I published the save for players asking for it.

You may use to have a saved Star System Easy start in your load game menu, it got my Favorite Offline mode settings :

Sorry, should have specified. I mean to build a pod from scratch that's designed to hit the ground at speed without destroying itself.

Ah! Thanks for specifying.

More Thrusters or Parachutes would be easy Engineer solutions, in my opinion but some are able to find solutions on setups that are not supposed to work and they do so by testing different setups till solution found.

There is always one clever player finding the working solutions before all so keep trying different is my best advice.

My first Engineer testing would be to try with wheels set at Max strength,
