THE OUTREALMS PROTOCOL

So, instead of just adding whoever the hell I like in my XCOM 2 Character Pool, I want to do something special. I want to collect a bunch of soldiers and shooters from other realities. Inspired by the various isekai tropes in fiction, I decided to make a pool of characters who (mostly) meet the following criteria.

1. The characters needs to have DIED (ambiguous cases work too) or have been teleported away, never to be seen again. Their backstory will be that they've died and have been resurrected in this world or have been transported for a variety of reasons to assist XCOM with the alien threat. I might make SOME OCs in this regard.

2. When I mod my gameplay, I want some modicum of realism. As such, they'll mostly have to be characters who already mainly use guns.

3. No way-out-there wacky comedy or fantasy bullcrap like most of the Nintendo IPs or the Mortal Kombat cast. Yes, there are some actual military characters in Mortal Kombat, but they don't meet Rule 1 for the most part. Yes, Mario + Rabbids plays like XCOM, but guns aren't their primary method of combat and they wouldn't limit themselves if they're gonna help save Earth (and there are no Rabbid mods yet).

4. If the character canonically has some supernatural or scientifically advanced powers, anything that makes them beyond human, I'll write various reasons for why they don't have those powers or have them nerfed for any reason, such as "Resurrection Sickness", coming back in a completely baseline human body, teleportation issues, etc.

5. If possible, I'll try not to feature major badasses who can logically certify as One-Man Armies even if Rule 4 is applied to them, such as Steve Rogers/Captain America (frozen in ice, and therefore CAN be plausibly unfrozen at a different point in time), John Wick (ambiguously dies at the Final Chapter), Jack Bauer (likely to be executed at the end of Day 9, and a new season might bring him back anyway), Bayonetta (sent to hell, and not the type to take orders), or the Doom Slayer (put to rest after defeating Davoth, and not the type to take orders either).

6. Naturally, my picks here will be the mostly heroes, or at least characters who aren't going to be the type to willingly/consciously sellout to ADVENT or strike out on their own.

# Iji Kataiser (Iji)
- An indie platform shooter game. One ending leads to her demise. Well, two, but her backstory here focuses on one.

# Captain Brenner/O'Brian (Advance Wars: Days of Ruin)

# Sgt. Paul Jackson (Call of Duty)
- Yes, he barely makes an appearance, and is usually just in the First-Person, but I thought someone from one of the most shocking moments in video game history deserves a spot.
# PFC Joseph 'Alexei Borodin' Allen (Call of Duty)
- Another PC who then dies. And his last mission is also a shocking moment in video game history, albeit extremely controversial.

# Mia 'Just Cause' Cyrus (Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka)
- Yes, she is (well, was for the Protocol) a Magical Girl, but she and all of her kind have military training. And she continued fighting for the military even after the first war she was part of.
- There are other Magical Girls who died during the war who have very little information on them: Lorelai, Estella, Patricia, Crystal, and Hildegarde. For the first two, all that's known are their looks (seen in a few panels and dialog), nationality (Germany, Mexico), and their first names (Magdalena, Claudia). The other three have even less to go off of other than like two panels, and a few seconds in the animé adaptation of Episode 12.
# Francine 'Chevalier' Dupont (surname made up since it's never been stated in canon)
- I was considering including Mia's…significant other, Francine 'Chevalier', even if she's actually the main villain of the series. But with Magical Girls not being a thing in XCOM, her philosophy shattered by the heroes, and the present threat of ADVENT, I think she can be convinced to fight for XCOM, especially with Mia there.
