Base Turrets not shooting at enemy base
Hi, a long time ago, I made a "siege base" to help me fight enemy bases , especially when solo. However, that doesn't appear to work any more. I've made turrets of a base in range of an enemy Zirax base, I have the turrets set to attack bases , but the turrets will not shoot. I can manually shoot and hit the base so I know its in range.

Funny thing too, the Zirax base doesn't shoot back either. But if I move near the base, it immediately shoots at me.

Any ideas ?

I don't believe bases are configured to fire on each other.
Yeah I don't think they shoot at each other.
You also want to build yours just out of their turret range and use an Artillery Turret to blow them to pierces. Tall tower with an upside down artillery turret helps to solve the "I can't shoot low enough to blow cores / etc" problem.
I have seen bases shoot at each other, but it was captured gun-bases that I had put my cores in. Also it was alien turrets and it might have been a scenario (Lost Mia?). And it was a couple of updates ago...

Yes, but I assume they are playing vanilla as they did not mention a scenario.

I think I also saw it a couple of years ago when I was still playing vanilla, but maybe that is too long to be relevant.(?)

There is also the question of "Is it basic game code or something a scenario could change". But obviously that is something you would be more likely to know, than me. 8-)
The answer is... Maybe.
Some of those configs can be changed, however what effect they actually have is rather untested. There's entries for POIs and bases and what they can target, but it's unclear whether changing those actually changes things or not.

So the answer is the scenario could make a difference.

OK, I'm playing Reforged Eden 2. A year maybe 2 , I was playing Reforged Eden and I was to design "siege" bases to build in the factory and then blob them down, quick fill it with armor and fuel. Then while the enemy base was distracted with the my base, I want use my SV or HV to assault the enemy base. Both bases would fire on each other, but not anymore it appears.

Also, in the device panel where you tell turrets what to do, I have it set for bases and to target turrets. yet nothing happens.

If bases no longer shoot as bases, I guess that will allow my to make a different kind of base that I can blob down closer and allow the SV or HV to have cover while shooting.

I'll have to thing on that for a bit.
The turret controller for bases in vanilla do not include other bases as a target.
The turret controller for bases in RE1 and RE2 do include other bases as targets.
So if you're playing Reforged Eden, base turrets will attack other bases within range.

That does not appear to be the case. I'm playing Reforged Eden 2, Build 23 and the bases are not firing at each other.

To be specific, I took over a Zirax base near another higher level Zirax base, placed my own core and my own turrets (not alien turrets) and the near base which shoot at each other.

Perhaps it was just a glitch. I will attempt to repeat this when the opportunity presents itself.

FYI your RE2 is way out of date.
How far away is that base from yours? Because turrets only have around a 300m range unless in space or on airless moons.

I'm able to hit the other base if I take control of the laser turret myself, so I'm assuming it's within range.

Reforged Eden 2 is way out of date??? Is there a Reforged Eden 3 ?
You're using Build 23 and the current Build is 27.
Build 23 is from October last year.
Build 28 will be released after the current vanilla Experimental goes to Public.

OK, Thanks Vermilion, would going to Build 28 require a restart / new game? Not the end of the world if I had to, I would just have to go to admin mode and spawn in all of our ships and supplies before restarting our track across the galaxy.
