It has to be a .png and a size 256x256 and it has to be named preview.

@Rainmaker does it specifically need to be at 256x256 or can it be smth like 260x260? also i have 2 previews, specifically 1 designated for the icon and one for the poster, do i call them both preview and hope for the best?

Your poster can be bigger, I've seen people use 512x512s for those, and the icon has to be 32x32 I think.

Don't try to use multiple. Just one preview.png that's 256x256. When you get that working, you can go ahead and make a bigger poster.png and the small icon.png

i put the poster as preview in the mod.info and everywhere in the folder, but it still says the same thing (i put it as 260x260).

So you don't put the preview in the mod.info, first of all.
Here's how you handle it.

Just put the preview.png inside Workshop\YourMod

Your mod.info handles the poster and the icon, not the preview.

So just put the png in that folder, don't enter it in your mod.info and try again.
