I don't use many road items, so i can't help you with that one.
I'm one of those lazy, minimalist types. I don't do massive detailing, mostly relying on prefabs and somewhat realistic track layouts. I love simple stations that fit in the asthetic, with realistic track layout and realistic trains. That gives me immense satisfaction with minimal building time, which I don't have a lot of due to work.
