Description
This is the 3rd of three electric locomotives used on the Dance Hall Days. She was originally built in the 1970's for the rack railway at Paranapiacaba, Brazil. Over the years she worked hard on the line, moving freight trains up and down the steep incline.

In 2000, the locomotive suffered a major traction motor failure and was laid up. Two years later she was saved for something resembling preservation. Along with two V8 locomotives, this Side Rod was bought for service on the Dance Hall Days Line in New Zealand. However it was still called the Dalton Branch back in the early 2000's, and wasn't re-named until 2018.

Today the Side Rod engine is one of the three main locomotives on the D.H.D. Her typical assignment is to haul the once-weekly Pullman dinner train.
