Description
(Disclaimer: Clothes and races used in images are not included)

Learn to manipulate Chi, the primal energy that exist on everything, to survive in this cruel world. Train, meditate, drain your life force and turn the odds in your favor with useful items made of materialized Chi.

About this mod:
This is a rework from my old mod "Chi: Conduits", I've decided to make a new one instead working in the old one because there are too many changes done (I've changed, deleted and reworked things) and I have a fair size of subscribers there. so those drastic changes will ruin their saves. I'm not the kind of modder who likes to take a ♥♥♥♥ on the players who likes to use my stuff and also took the chance to start from scratch to polish my work and rebalance it. It still need more polishment (mostly on the graphic side, more on that later), but I'm sure that mechanically is finally ready to go. A big thank you to everyone who waited for this and motivated me to keep working on it despite all my IRL issues.

This mod adds:
  • A new type of ranged weapons called "Conduits", with 2 different kind of projectiles with 3 different tiers (6 items in total)
  • 8 New Meditation techniques under Building menu (can be built in exteriors and interiors, just like the camp fire)
  • 2 New shapeshifting melee weapons (NOT for crafting, sadly, so 1 is included in the starts and other one more powerful may be available for purchase inScraphouse or the Armour King)
  • New and improved graphics compared to the old mod
  • 5 New universal shirts (Also available for BELT)
  • New healing items (health, robotic and splints), with 3 different tiers (11 items in total)
  • 3 New "gems" items to enhance your combat skills with almost no physical protection (available for BELT)
  • 4 New types of special bags, one of those comes in 4 different versions with soft light colors (6 items in total) plus an universal pack for animals (with light)
  • 2 New types of prosthetic limbs for each playable vanilla race (20 items in total)
  • 5 New starts, one of them a TEST start to see if you like this, called "CHI TEST"
  • Faster, easy to follow and streamlined research compared to the old mod
  • Optional reading in-game for those who wants some explanations or instructions to use this mod
  • A lot of hunger

IMPORT IS NOT REQUIRED

How to get started:
Everything related to Chi is under "Meditations" tab in the building menu, gather some Chi, use the research building and that's it, you are ready to go.
From there is just gathering Chi ocasionally, doing research at your prefered pace and also doing stuff with Chi. Be careful though, every research and building has increased hunger rates, don't forget to bring some food!
I've put all my "tutorial books" into a new building called "Chi: Data", so you won't be cluttering your inventory with them or you simply could not read them at all if you want. If you feel kinda lost, trust my words, if you read them carefully, you won't be lost with my mod.

To read an in depth explanation on how the mod works click HERE (I also encourage to anyone that came from the old mod to check out what changed!)

Vision:
This mod is made for those players who really don't like creating bases and they like to wander a lot. It's also aimed for everyone interested in fantasy about "vital energy". I'm also a big fan of balance, while this mod isn't in the best shape in terms of balance, it doesn't outclass any vanilla items by too much and I'm open to balance this mod with feedback and further testing. Please don't expect a "Kenshi" look in this mod, this is more focused on the fantasy aspect so it doesn't fit Kenshi aesthetically.

IMPORTANT:
Something you need to know: While you can sell your items, they don't cost money. I've made sure to give enough tools for survival and combat, use them to make money (This is literally, almost every item you'll make cost 0 cats). You can "sell them" if you want to get rid them or just drop them into the floor... Or burn them into an item furnace.

Project Chi
At first I wanted to create a series of mods to expand on this idea, but for now I'll be working just on this one unless popular demand ask me for more mods.
You can check the others mods here: Project Chi: Mod series

Future plans:
  • Making new meshes and textures to optimize the mod and also make some new items (possibly limbs, meshes for respiration techniques and achieve better understanding and control of textures). Right now the textures are quite big and I'm learning to use Blender and Gimp better, so I'll expect to be able to fix this in the future regardless if I can made new meshes
  • If the above it's done, I'll probably add some bosses... So it'll all depends on if I can model or not, unless someone wants to join me for that.

Dependencies:
This mod doesn't have any dependency in other mods, but it may collide with the older one since I use the same tab in the building menu. I also tried to be as least disruptive as possible so I didn't break the vanilla stuff to make my own, whatever other mod you're using should work fine with this. It doesn't need to be ported or patched, not even for overhaul mods or new races.

Known issues:
  • Sometimes the "buildings" will float
  • If you dismantle some building while is creating something, you will lost your progress and your materials
  • Amalgam limbs have a weird flickering in the arms or legs. I couldn't fix it without compromising the entire model, I'll try to fix it again in the future
  • On "Chi: Shaper" some items ask for a lot of required materials to be made... Be not afraid, Kenshi automatically will ask you for the first 2 things in the list. It shows much more requirements because those are all the materials that can be used in that building, not because that specific item ask for it. To avoid confusions, I've added "Materials needed for construction" in the description of those items that have the issue
  • For some reason, Breathing Techniques in the BELT slot won't show texture.
  • Texture for respiration techniques will be visible even over underwear and bones (Can't fix it, sorry!).

    I hope you like and enjoy this, let me know your impressions, complaints or bug reporting in the comments section! (I check my mods almost every day, even if I'm not working in them)

    If you have any question, please visit my F.A.Q. and see if your quesiton is already answered or make me a new question there.

    If you have any suggestion, please use the Suggestions thread to don't loose track on them (I work slow!)

    Thank you for your time

    After many, many months of balancing, testing and working, I've finally released my iteration on this idea but for Project Zomboid. If you like this mod and also are a zomboid player, please check it out, I'm sure it'll be enjoyable for any fellow Chi Master :)

@Macropod

Not sure why you would get that idea, the mod is explained in detail, even on a Technical level.

So this mod won't let you create a powerful mage? All magic is about creating artifacts that anyone can use?

@Grantantan

Here you can find a deep explanation of each building https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/2630049503/4328514571294671445/

Most crafting uses FARMING stat, so your combat level won't matter.

Masterwork items will appear since Farming 85 onwards IIRC.

If I want to make any conduits with master work level, should I have more crossbow smith level for that?

If you are using any mod that changes the research trees it won't work.

Sorry I am new to this mod. If I start as chi novice, how can I start any researches? There aren't any available.

@Vatheron

I've answered you in my profile, I'll make the patch and upload it to nexus as soon as I can because it's a huge download and I need the overhaul first for the patch (:

@Vanaukas

The _Starts uses the modded primitive tool, so its a lot different from the _Default Start.

I'll send you the overhaul name at your profile chat.
