Tl;dr
This mod attempts to improve player choice and roughly balance traits, skills, defeat traits, and faction effects for vanilla characters and factions.

This is a beta, rather than perfectly polished, and will be improved over time!

New skill trees and traits can be viewed in the planner here[totalwarhammerplanner.com], just select any faction/lord to see their new skill tree.

Overview
I feel that Vanilla trait/skill selections don't have many good choices. Most factions have 1-2 traits worth chasing. Most skill trees have a bunch of useless dumps on the way to the good stuff. Many factions struggle to get any replenishment or upkeep reduction at all. Greater Daemons are stuck with the same garbage trait pool as everyone else.

I want to make those choices interesting - not necessarily all equally strong, but all interesting enough that you don't need to fish for certain traits or always skip a bad blue line skill.

Unique Skills
Weaker trees were buffed, and lords with nonexistent/incomplete trees were significantly expanded, with over 100 new skills and some lords gaining better spell selections or Greater Arcane Conduit.

The Godslayer was not forgotten - with 5 new multi-part unique skill trees on top of new generic skills, and the ability to honor multiple gods or specialize with one for powerful benefits to himself and his army, he can actually be built as a powerful duelist, general, or caster!

Skill Trees
Existing yellow, red, and blue lines for lords were ripped out and replaced with around 150 new skills, broken up into discrete, flavorful sets. The goal is to make each lord far more customizable, and encourage different builds - you can build a lord to be a provincial administrator, a recruiter, a beatstick, etc.

Redlines now apply to unit types instead of specific units, can affect allied units, and include special buffs at ranks 4 and 7. Yellow skills are broken into general approaches like damage, durability, ranged damage, etc. Blue lines cover general themes like map utility, province/empire utility, etc.

As a result, Slaanesh now has replenishment in the Strategist tree, while a lord specialized in the Exarch tree can now act similarly to a Kislev Ataman. And you may need it; skills that increase Corruption and reduce enemy Public Order are MUCH stronger.

The AI has been taught to use all these skills in a flavorful fashion, hopefully better than vanilla. Races and legendary lords each have unique templates.

Generic Traits
Most generic vanilla traits have been improved to some degree; self-buffing traits are significantly stronger, and others were balanced to compete with the good ones.

Over 360 new traits have also been added; all Greater Daemons have large, god-unique pools with powerful effects; Khorne may inflict Rampage on enemy armies, Slaanesh may add Vanguard and charge to your army, Tzeentch may strip the armor and resist for foes. Slann are now bound to Temple-Cities instead of generations; a Xlanhuapec mage-priest may grant your army Stalk, while an Astromancer of Tlaxatan has a special bound Comet. Bloodline lords have their own pools too!

Some lord types, like Warlords, Generals, and Prophetesses also get unique trait pools, often related to clans, provinces, etc. Over time, I'd like to add full sets of traits for each faction.

Legendary Lord Traits/Faction Bonuses
While faction balance is actually a lot better than it was in game 2, too many legendary lords have underwhelming traits or forgettable faction bonuses. We're not going full Ikit here, but obviously weaker ones were brought up to about the level of the good vanilla ones, with a few tweaks.

Kroq'Gar's factional weapon strength bonuses now apply to himself as well, Zhao Ming's ogre bonuses apply to all ogre auxiliaries instead of just Ogre Bulls, the Fay Enchantress now grants Prophetess recruit rank and strips enemy spell resistance, etc.

Defeat Traits
Very weak defeat traits were brought up to medium-to-good levels. I was fairly conservative here overall, but there shouldn't be any more nearly/completely useless defeat traits.

Compatibility
This mod will not play nicely with other mods that make significant changes to traits or skills. Mods that add new traits and skills are probably fine, I tried to play nice.

Don't add this to an in-progress campaign, you may lose skill points or traits.

CA recently broke tolerant compatibility severely, so the mega-compatibility below is currently broken. Hopefully CA improves it soon. I'll still link here: compatibility submod thanks to ZenRayn's hard work!

I've noticed that the active area abilities from the red skills bug the spell wheel. The take away space from spells and the arrows to select other lores isn't present like it used to be
