Description
GModCEFCodecFix has not yet been released for the main branch of Garry's Mod, it is being worked on. Use x86-64 Bit BETA temporarily

This is a unofficial release of the rarely updated Media Player addon, the focus here is to keep the Media Player updated as possible.      WITHOUT WARRANTY

Supported services

Please note that this does only apply to Windows users. Linux and macOS users will still need the existing requirements (read below).
  • YouTube (Video) with experimental Ad-Blocker (Beta)
  • SoundCloud
  • URL Service for:
    • WebM videos
    • Images (.jpg, .png, .gif)
    • Audio (.mp3, .wav, .ogg)

Getting things to work
So far the out-of-the-box services work for Windows without any additional effort, but for all other services GModPatchTool / GModCEFCodecFix is required. Linux and MacOS users are strongly affected by this, as they also need the x86-64 BETA branch!

Important Notes
  • Please uninstall the original addon by Sunabouzu, as it is not compatible with this version.
  • Long-term support for YouTube may be challenging due to ongoing technical changes by YouTube, which can lead to issues.
  • Local videos on the computer cannot be played, consider uploading it somewhere.
  • In some countries there may be strict censorship and sites may be completely blocked. This addon is not responsible for that.
  • TV Props addons are supposed to work

YES "Media Player - Extended Props" WILL WORK WITH THIS ADDON.

Issues
  • YouTube will not work with VPNs and will prompt you with the message “sign in to show you're not a Bot”. Add Garry's mod to the exception list (split tunneling) of your VPN clients, nothing else can be done about it.
  • YouTube will not be able to play age-restricted videos.
  • people report black or white screens, so far the cause is not known.
  • not all videos from tiktok will work.
  • LambdaPlayers is not compatible and never will be

Make sure that you are not subscribed to the original addon and other Media Player addons too!, as this can lead to conflicts. Deactivate all add-ons for testing and leave only this one on

When I request the url for a video in youtube the addon give me a bunch of problems here a example: [Media Player (Updated Edition)] Couldn't include file 'config\server.lua' - File not found or is empty (@lua/mediaplayer/shared.lua (line 42))

@Eggbot I don't like to say it, but it sounds like Russia is actively filtering/blocking your internet. Because that message you showed was never supposed to happen. Are you on Windows or do you have something else?

When I request for url, it waits a little and later says "SSL connection error"

@Alize Okay... but I can't see any ads. Have you subscribed to any other add-ons that are also media players? (Otherwise they might cause conflicts.)
