Audio Mixer

Description
The Audio Mixer
Welcome! First of all let me say without the Ole and ChaosRobie none of this fun stuff would be possible so please give them all the consensual love they deserve!

The Audio Mixer has 2 main functions:

1) Act as a custom VO audio compatibility mod:
VO audio is basically everything to do with characters talking. Getting VO to work is kind of complicated and uses some software called Wwise. We're making tools to do simplify it but until then if you want to add VO we will do it for you. The wiki[www.tw-modding.com] has info on all the types of VO there are so you can figure out what voice acting you need. Send us your voice acting over in the Audio Mixer Requests thread[discord.com] on the Modding Den Discord server[discord.com], and we'll set your VO up for you!

2) Act as a storage facility for custom movie .dat files:
Some non-VO audio requires sounds to be in a movie-type pack. At least custom movies require this, and likely some other sounds that haven't yet been tested, so if anyone wants to store those .dat files in here to avoid the compatibility issue that movie-type packs cause then feel free to send them over.

Join the Modding Den Discord server[discord.com] to discuss audio further, make a casting call[discord.com] for your own project, or share your details[discord.com] as a voice actor.

FAQ
Q: How can I make custom VO audio?
A: Custom VO is slightly complicated so for now we're offering to do it for you. Read the wiki[www.tw-modding.com]. Get your voice acting done. Make a request on the Audio Mixer Requests thread[discord.com] in the Modding Den Discord server, and we'll get your VO in game for you! Alternatively, send us your Wwise project to implement into the main project. Eventually this part of the audio tools will be added to AE, once it is you can do it all yourself.

Q: How can I make custom non-VO audio?
A: Read the wiki[www.tw-modding.com]. Once the audio tools Ole, Acephelos, and I are developing for the Asset Editor are finished, you will be able to use the templates there, plug in your details, and you're good to go.

Q: I'm a voice actor (or want to do some voice acting), how can I get involved?
A: Great! You can share your details in the Voice Acting thread[discord.com] in the Modding Den Discord and see what voice acting modders are requesting in the Casting Calls thread[discord.com].

Q: What is VO and non-VO audio?
A: Read the wiki[www.tw-modding.com].

Q: Can I use AI to make audio?
A: CA have advised against the use of AI in place of voice actors so the Audio Mixer will not facilitate any audio generated with AI. Voice actors are valuable, let's use them!

Q: Where do I store my wems?
A: In your mod. This mod only contains the soundbanks for merged Dialogue_Events, and .dat files.

Q: Is there a template Wwise project for VO if I want to build it myself?
A: Sort of. Here [drive.google.com] is the Wwise Project for the Audio Mixer.

Q: Can I upload my own movie-type pack to store my .dat file?
A: Of course. Publishing a movie-type pack with only .dat files in won't cause any incompatibility with this. Just make sure you know what movie-type packs are capable of...

@Pear I also compared WH2 and WH3 just now, and the menu music is fine—it previously seemed like some parts were missing, and that impression stuck in my memory.

Regarding WH1's music, I meant that, for example, when starting as Markus Wulfhart in WH2, we get music from WH1, which closely resembles this track https://youtu.be/hwc1-qpmZ38?si=yGJWdHBgqe6uoCvq . In WH3, a similar but not identical track might play in the same campaign, and it's not always the same.

If I understand correctly, the developers of WH3 created a lot of new music and added it to the rotation of track playback. The music from WH1 carried over into WH2, for which they only created new music for the new races (Skaven, Elves, etc.), but in WH3, they took a different approach.

I hope you understand what I mean.

@< blank > I've just checked in WH2, and the DLCs backgrounds in the main menu have the same music as they do in WH3. Changing the background in WH3 also does change the music. I've not got WH1 installed to test but what do you think is missing from that?

There’s a wiki page blank. Or you can go to the modding den discord. Although sound modeling is a pretty new thing that not many people know how to do to my knowledge there’s around four or five of us that know how so if you want to learn the ropes of specifically that you might be better off waiting for the YouTube guide we will make when the new tool for asset editor launches

@Pear Where can I find information about modding TTW3? Is there a PDF or any general introductory information about the tools? I know nothing about it. For example, The Witcher 3 has an introductory guide to modding.
