Irrigation and Compost Fertilizer

In 1 collection by lukeh_ro
Stranded: Alien Dawn - Water & Hygiene
7 items
Description
Allows survivors to use water to irrigate fields. Irrigated plants get same growth bonus they would gain from rain, depending on region.

For technical reasons the rain and irrigation effect in the desert needed to be reduced from 100% to 50%.
On Saltu the bonus was increased from 5% to 10% and one day duration similar to other regions.

Irrigation works like fertilization and needs to be toggled being disabled by default. Currently, the hydroponics don't support irrigation.

Added compost, a fertilizer that can be obtain from hay in fermentation barrels.

Water mod is required as sinks and pumps would be used as water sources.

The bugfix has been added to SAD_CommonLib. Should be good now. Gonna test tomorrow.

Hmm, I was suspicious that something may have happened after releasing.

I think I found the problem. It's a bug in SAD_CommonLib. It's not applying your property change to Manure for it's resource groups to add it to the Fertilzer group. Tested it with some other things, same issue, resource group changes won't apply.

No rush, was just updating my previous comment. :) Enjoy your holidays!

I manually deleted the Fertilization items in the mod for now, and Manure went back to functioning normally again.

I will check this but I'm on holidays atm.
This is strange as I definitely look for this to work when I published the mod.

Unfortunately, this prevents manure from being used as a fertilizer, and the new compost item doesn't work either.

Does this stop manure from being a fertilzer?

Any chance for an update? Right now the bots won't do anything related to water. My farm is ran mostly by Harvest bots and having them water would be great

@lukeh_ro

Agreed on time being a resource, but here would be my counter to that -- automation is a resource investment with the express purpose of allowing labor to be re-allocated elsewhere. Same way I build Delivery Drones so colonists dont spend so much time lugging stuff around themselves, but its an expense in that it requires electricity and components and metal, and its an ongoing cost with its own problems included.

But I think I see where you're coming from now, like, Rimworld is a 2D game with an engine that allows for custom made "pipework" buildings for moving resources directly from place to place, whereas Stranded likely doesn't have the engine capability for such features.

You might ask me: If you like Rimworld's way so much why dont you play that and not Stranded? To which my answer is one emphatic word: Verticality.
