Tired of fighting 200-500 stupidly weak units in each attack wave?
Tired of building and using only the aoe weapons/defenses?
Do you want to feel like your base is actually under threat?

You came to the right place!

This mod adds distinct "evolutions" to 8 of the major animal species so that each genus has 5 tiers of upgrades!
The Robotic enemies from the Hope DLC have also been overhauled and expanded!

If the game realizes it would send more units in an attack wave, higher than a mod setting, it will upgrade a unit selected in the attack to be upgraded.
For example:
A 160 Skarabei attack becomes an 80 Poisonous Skarabei attack.
This mod keep re-checking and upgrading until an attack is under your desired amount.

Special notes:
1. Base species or Robot "class" is respected.
1a. Skarabei attacks will always be Skarabei

2. On the highest difficulties, multi-year run will our of upgrades.
If that happens, the game will still upgrade. And instead of 400 paltry Skarabei you will be eventually attacked by 400 Final Form Skarabei.

Each tier is exponentially more difficult to deal with!/
Final Forms are base killers! They are not intended to fight fair!

Each upgrade should feel close to the jump in difficulty from fightning a Shrieker Hatchling to a Shrieker Broodmother

By default EVERY upgrade grants 2x health & 2x pain tolerance.
THEN species specific upgrade(s) get applied.
Aka Skarabei will gain +10% pierce armour(As they are evolving to be highly resistant to arrows/bullets)
Have fun discovering how each species is evolving to better defeat you!

The following species have upgrade paths:
- Juno
- Shriekers
- Scissorhands
- Tecatli
- Dragonfly
- Glutch
- Skarabei
- Noth
- Ulfen
- Shogu
- Dromadda
- Draka

The following Robot "species" also have valid upgrade paths:
- Light Assault
- Heavy Assault
- Demolitionist
- Scout
- Armored Forge Crawler
- Crawler Cannons

As new enemy tiers are found, they will require re-observing.
This gives you more vignettes into your colony.... but maybe more importantly and it will give you more details about strengths and weaknesses!

Did I mention a Combat Overhaul?!?
The base Stranded Alien Dawn only gave animals piercing/blunt damage.
And most weapons dealt piercing or energy damage
No longer!
Each animal now deals 1 - 2 damage types
And when observed, you are clearly told what damage they deal.
- Scissorhands/Gujo deal pure Piercing
- Juno deal pure Blunt
- Glutch deal pure Gas
- Dragonly deal pure Energy
- Tecatli's deal Energy/Gas
- Skarabei now deal Blunt/Gas damage
- Shriekers now deal Blunt/Pierce
- Dogs deal Piercing/Energy

Armor Rework!
So enemies are scarier, am I giving you anything to handle this increase?
All base game armor now gives larger defenses bonuses.
With 2 options "Complex" or "Simple"

Complex bonuses are as follows:
- Leather has great Energy resistance
- Veggie Leather generally improves from base Leather
- Synethic has great Pierce resistance
- Carbon has great Blunt resistance
- Improved Carbon is meant to be second best against everything

Simple bonuses grant a flat deflection % to each category.
With the tier of the armor determining the #:
Leather < Veggie Leather < Synthetic < Carbon < Improved Carbon

You can now get 75% deflection chance through either method.

Not satisfied or entertained? How about a Taming rework as well!
All animal upgrades are Tame-able!
However each evolution grants pacification defense and lowers the chance to tame.

So how do you get one of these mega-beasts?
Well heavy continuous pacification weaponry fire
OR you can tame a lower evolution's mating pair.
Juno, Shrieker, Scissorhands, Tecatli, Gujo's, Noth's, Shogu's, Draka's, Dromaddas, & Dogs now:
- Have offspring of the next evolution
- Eat less food per day (Final Forms eat the same as base game counterparts)
- Have at least a 9x increased chance to become pregnant (And grow that much faster from a child)
- Immediately Draftable / spawn with Training lvl 5
(Although more training is recommended)
- Tecatli & Dogs are inherently more difficult to train/breed

But tames are bad?!? Why should I use them?
When the game attacks you, it does not consider how many tames you have.
So a colony with no tames (But static defenses) vs a colony with the same defenses with 50 Final Form Shriekers defending get the same attack!

So Tames are cheaper, quicker to grow and use in combat, and "Free"

There are some enemies that do not care about Flamethrowers or missile AoE attacks. Making flamethrowers and AoE less desirable.

All this is meant to make it a tougher decision to avoid taming and using a large army of beasts to help your fledgling colony!

If you are still reading, a quick compatibility disclaimer.
This mod is a combat overhaul mod; and any other mods that add animals/equipments/weapons (Or edit the base game items) should be scrutinized before used with this mod.
I am not opposed to integrating other mods to ensure compatibility, and I will do them as requested.

Gujo was working fine for me in the past, they evolved to their top form.

I'll test out the Ulfen this weekend and see what it does.

ps my dogs breed just fine all the way to fenrir and kept going but the other 3 just wont breed after reaching t2 they just stop aka the arch and wooly just wont breed

doesnt look like anyone else is having this issue so maybe its new but i tamed 3 of the animals the ulfen drake and gujo the lv 1 breed into lv 2 i tamed all the first year and by year 4 i still only had my original ones and the lv 2s the lv 2s or T2 are not breeding i thought maybe it was my milking mod but i disabled taht and re tested it still no go any ideas?

everytime i do a new game or load into a game i get an error message within 20 minutes of this mod stopping due to an error

Most minor of suggestions, I'd recommend changing the name of the mod to "Enemies Level Up" just to prevent confusion. :)

@Twini-kiwi I'd recommend not using the Glytch mod with this as there's some conflicts in the code.

also is this mod bugged on the crash landing scenario? im in year 3 very hard ares moon and got (hold your feet) 1 Small shrieker...I mean a free wave is a free wave but i think that isnt what should come i test some things before i can confrim this as a bug? i will see

theres a small Bug whit an other mod called Glytch they normally spanw on sorbius but if this mod is active they dont also if i use cheats to spawn and tame them the breeding for other creatures gets bugged until they are gone (i get an waring)

My Hulk Juno's are giving birth to Juno demolishers, which is lower-tier than the parent, so Juno's cannot currently be bred past T3 (unless you tame a T4 during an attack wave).

so 1 updated you introcuded a weaker cralwer variant for early robots waves but where are they? i got on 17 day year 1 an normal hotwitzer which should be then the weaker 1? right? or is the custom moon Ares too powerfull for it? just wondering

well i mean combined this whit jaggisd robots unleashed you have some trading ressources at least so not a completed useless as trading doesnt do that much in guardians but i can live whit it (btw why did you remove the sillica ressources? just curiois)
