Description
This mod adds a new variants of vanilla Neon tubes with interior light functionality

Therefore, modded neon tubes work exactly the same as regular interior lamps: you can turn them on/off, change the color of the light, switch the blinking, etc.

After removing this mod, all modded tubes on the grids will be replaced with vanilla ones.

This is what they should have been in the first damn place. I mean, really. Some people may argue it takes less resources for them to be like this, but that didn't stop any of the other gazillion light variants. I just don't understand why Keen even bothered to add them to the game in such a crippled state.

on such a cool mod there are so many strong opinions in the comment section

@Fascist Pig Bank you're right but that's such a cringe comment

That's the problem with Keen's antiquated, rigid block system. We need configurable, even "shape-able" blocks. People have been screaming "more block shapes" to make transitions forever. Starship EVO (a one-dev project!!) shows you dynamic blocks simply shaped into transitions. Want neon tubes to be actual light sources? Flip a switch. Surfaces with different colors or textures each? 7DTD knows how it's done. Refinery has the conveyor connection offset on the wrong side for you? Move it. Surely in 2077 engineers could figure out how to repipe the internal workings, no? Want to upgrade blocks from frames to armor to window? Again, look at 7DTD. Need to offset, rotate, angle an interior light? Hell, Starbase doesn't even HAVE a rigid grid system. Keen need to stop dragging their heels and finally commit to making a modern game instead of some pet project. Or maybe license the IP to some actual game studio. So far I can't see SE2 to turn out any different than how KSP2 did.

Why is that ignorant? They both have their advantages. But I would also have liked illuminated versions in addition to the normal ones right from the start.

@NumbCharlie

Nope, the vanilla neon tubes are emissives which consume less gpu/cpu power than full blown lights. Keen have made the right decision and you are showing your sheer ignorance.

Tbh this is what I'd expected the DLC neon lights to be/do. Thanks so much for making this a reality! Should be in vanilla ✨
