Hello everyone. I know people probably have a billion questions with the release of 4.0... I will try to answer what I can below:

"Elsen, what the heck happened?"

To put it bluntly... Pandora's Box V4.0 became an absolute monster of an update. It took so long to push due to burnout from the sheer scale of development and reworks, coupled with irl stuff. Even now you only have it in your hands right now because of the Starbound 1.4 update... My hand was forced.


"What's in the 4.0 update?"

Things I managed to incorporate up to this point. A lot of reworks, tweaks, and new content. (If any new stuff slipped through the cracks, I am sorry in advance. I don't think I have the drive to do much else...)


"What does this mean for this mod?"

Pandora's Box development is over. Well, at least this version's. It will remain untouched, both as a legacy, and to keep those that use it stable. It won't receive any new updates.


"What's next?"

A new project will be started. A successor to Pandora's Box. Along with those that have aided me in development, I aim to make a large scale, yet non-intrusive content mod.

Content from the old mod will trickle in over time. There will be a new asset prefix. Many assets will likely be tweaked, modified, retired, and fine tuned in the new project.

There is no release date on this name pending project. (It won't share PB's name, but it will be very similar.) We will take our time.

Going forward, whenever this project does see release, updates will likely be more focused, and I try to avoid massive updates like 4.0 from now on. (As they clearly don't often end well.)


Conclusion

I am still very sorry all of this was so sudden... But I felt it was necessary. I was incredibly stressed these past few months, and debating many other options behind the scenes that I felt were unsatisfactory. (Like retiring from modding entirely.)

I will probably be taking a hiatus as the building blocks for (PB Successor Name Pending) are set in place. I have no idea how long this could take. Anyone that wants to track developments and my musings can join the PB discord in the description on the mod page.)
