The logistics of supporting a fleet as massive as some of the fleets in the current game, running 600-800 population would be impossible. A planet cant support three dreadnoughts, a handful of battlecruisers and star destroyers and loads of picket ships. It just doesn't feel realistic.
Are there any plans for maybe a heavy debuff for deathstacking? Or maybe adding in something similar to the old system where food and materials were in, but instead have it be a "Carrying capacity" for each planet?
Personally I think it's a balance issue, buff the other factions start and change the AI to build more ISDs and less Allegiances and the empire won't be so OP. Back before the starting unit and hero SSD nerf (Zsinj quite often doesn't upgrade to SSD) the other factions stood a chance and every game the balance was different, now it's just me vs empire and their stacks of Allegiances every time while the other factions grovel with a few planets.
It worked decently well, but I'd be left with two damaged SSDs for several cycles.
If you want to defend with what's over a world, best not to go above a 20 population fleet, and never use carriers on defense. The AI sends a bunch of corvettes nullifying any bombers.
Golan stations also suck really bad. Even after buffing their shields and tripling their shield recharge rate, they're still not very good since they can't focus-fire most of their guns on one target, oriented in a way where they're spreading out damage to multiple targets which is not ideal. Better to to use them to focus shields down, letting shipyard frigates/corvettes taking cover behind them hit individual hardpoints to "aoe" a ship quickly.
Yeah I can understand why PA no longer gets free SSD's, but Zsinj already sucks as-is with his only real appeal used to be in that he gets a free SSD to start.
Same goes for Eriadu and Delvardus in the Thalassa. Eriadu is actually really good, but has a very expensive playstyle that makes the early game rough. Both Eriadu and Zsinj always get wiped super quick. Empire never progresses past pestage either on its own.
There was really no reason to do these factions dirty like this. They got Schwabbed: "you vill use ze carrack, and you vill be happy"
